Are you the romantic one or the realistic one in relationships?

I've become more realistic over time. In high school, I was the consummate romantic.

Over time, I came to realize that much of that was internalized insecurity and vengeance. I was bullied a lot in K-8, and wanted to get a girlfriend so I could make liars out of my past naysayers. So they'd have to eat their words, and have to look like fools for what they said.

I was so focused on humiliating and discrediting everyone who made me feel small, I forgot how to enjoy life for it's own sake.

Then, when I did start to care, I always became attracted to damsels in distress. Women who understood what feeling small felt like. But that didn't mean they were soulmates, try though I did to advertise the possibility.

Finally did get a few girlfriends, only to discover that women can fall prey to almost anything. And that many are backstabbers. So I finally got my revenge, and got no satisfaction from it.

For men, Realistic is a MUST. I used to be the more romantic one years ago in a previous relationship. But then I learned the hard way that a man being romantic is often a turn off to women. Women want strong, realistic and stoic men. Those are the men they look up to. Not the ones who bring them flowers from time to time, sends them paragraphs of love notes or throws the "I love you" at them frequently. This comes across as needy and it doesn't give them something to chase.  There is a reason why women flock to the 'bad boy' type who prioritizes his own interests and life. They enjoy the chase. The time of romance is over if it ever was, in the first place. Men should be strategic, ambitious and give with romance in moderation. But you have to be dominant over romantic for sure.  If you want to spark a woman's interest and maintaining it, being realistic is a must.

I wouldn’t exactly say romantic but I’m very nurturing. I’m also very logical in the beginning but tend to become more vulnerable and emotional once I love them

I'm kind of a mix of romantic and realistic. I don't shy away from cheesy romantic gestures but I'm also level headed enough to know how to maintain healthy boundaries.
