I don't know what to do in this situation and it’s frustrating me?

So there’s this girl I like at my job. Last Wednesday we talked basically the entire shift and it increased my feelings for her. But my friend likes her or well he liked her. She rejected him like a couple days ago. He still talks to her like before and nothing really is different. Like part of me says do what you think you want which is to date her. But another part is to be a good friend and not date a girl he got rejected by. Now I’ve literally never been in a situation like this so before asking my friend anything I want to see what people on here would do

Does he know you two I’ve been talking? If he does, it’s okay; that could be your future wife.
Tell him it’s better that she’s not for everybody, and you know he will someday find someone who’s just for him too.

So he knows I’ve been talking to her. But I’ve been quiet to her after she rejected him out of respect for him. During lunch I didn’t know how to ask him if he’s ok with me being friends with her so I just jokingly said “I had no game with the girls today lolll” then my older friend said I talked to the girl and he was jokingly acting mad about it then said no it’s fine if I talk. I said I won’t date , yet at least. But I talked to her for the first time since she rejected him and I missed talking to her and I felt bad kind of because I didn’t explain what’s going on and she was by me like every day afterwards. But when I started talking she smiled again which was super nice
