Trending & News I am not in a relationship but if I ever decide to be in one, then yes, age difference makes a huge difference in my opinion.
In your teen years, girls are on the average 2 years more mature than guys the same age. If you are an 18 year old girl and date an 18 year old guy, then this guy has the maturity of a 16 year old at best. Not really the ideal setup. We all know that at that age, guys only have nonsense and sex in mind.
When older, if the one or the other partner is substantially older than the other one, it will create issues in terms of thinking. There could even be a generation gap and a 40 year old person does not think the same way as a 20 year old one.
Look further into age and you will only get into more problems, this time with health conditions. You have a partner that is 80, at the dawn of his/her life and the partner only 50 or 60. Then you know that the rest of the time together is seriously limited.
No, I am not in favor of a great age gap in any relationship.
Your comment is a bunch of nonsense and notions. Age doesn't matter. My sister died at 24. You can die at any time. The only difference between any person and another is the conditioning of their mind. Age does not stop people from thinking and living however they want. The problem is people conform to make others happy and not be outside the box.
Same thing with the mature nonsense. Has nothing to do with maturity. Nothing to do with it. Barley can tell any difference between a 16 and 18 year old anyway. It has everything to do with the environment that is controlling people's conditioning. If you were right then why are many guys still immature at age 30? Because they choose to be. It's a mind thing not a brain thing. People just accept the nonsense they are told. Hell you can change literally your whole personality if you understand all personality is neural wiring.
@Sunssong although I agree with some of the things you said, age actually does matter unless you're both consenting adults who are mature enough to make your own decisions.
Having too large of an age gap like saying the man is in his late 50s or so and the girl is in her 20s, is way too absurd and you can't expect people to praise you for landing a girl that's the age of your granddaughter, or congratulate you for landing a man who's old enough to be your grandfather.
In the same way, you can't be in a relationship with a minor either because it's not only morally wrong, but you'll also be a pedophile for having a sexual relationship with a minor and you could face some serious jail time.
That being said, the way you explained how age doesn't equate to maturity was still correct and I'm one of those people who can wholeheartedly relate to this on a personal level. Even as a young teenager, I was able to have intellectual and mature conversations with people double my age who'd commend my maturity, and now as a 24 year old, I have some good friends of mine who are 10-15 years older than I am and who come to me for life advice, so yeah there is that.
And on the flip side, I've also had friends in the past who were absolute morons and despite their age, acted like total clowns and children. So yeah, in conclusion, it's people's experiences that actually influence how mature they become and how they grow to be as people. You could meet a grown ass man in his 40s who dresses, talks and carries himself as a teenager, or you could meet a teenager who's faced so much trauma, responsibilities and hardships in life that he could give you some serious life lessons had you both sit down to talk
When you're under 18, it matters a ton. If you are under 18, you do not need to be with anyone over 18. Now, if you're over 18, it becomes a lot less of an issue. In my opinion, even if you are 18 or older, some age gaps are still a bit "much". Like I myself am going to be 32 this year, so I would not be interested in dating anyone in the 18-23 range. Yes, they would be legal adults, so I'd be "allowed to", but I feel that that age range would just be too young for me. I'd prefer my partners be 25+. That is simply MY preference though. The older you get, the less an age gap matters. As long as you're both 18+, legal, consenting adults, it's all good.
Depends on the situation and the ages. If both of them are consenting adults and the age gap isn't massive, like say the man is in his 60s and the girl just turned 18 or is in her early twenties, that's a massive red flag right there, and you should know better that that isn't "true love", but that she's just waiting for you to die so that she inherits all your life savings.
At the same time, if the other person you're interested in is underage, that's just sick and you should be prepared to be locked up for soliciting a child for sex, and be labeled as a pedophile for the rest of your life.
For me! Age matters, i want my partner to be as old as i am or very few year difference between us (max 4 years). My reason is i want to be best friends with my partner that is from the same generation to things easier for both of us. I have dated women/girls that are younger than me and i didn't feel any connection, that's when i made up my mind to not date much younger/older because a lot is different and communication is key. So! My wife is 4 months younger than me and we are doing great

When you're younger say your teenage years or 20s then yes. Because age is relates to maturity in many cases and also life experiences. One needs to be in the same page. If someone is more than 15 years younger than their parter like an 18-19 year old girl and a man around his mid or late 30s. She will experience the things he experienced years ago and is on a different path, different goal now while she's still trying to figure life out and try to find a goal and achieve her dreams.
It usually doesn't matter as much as some people think. What matters more is biological age and especially psychological age (maturity level) more than chronological age. Some people's personalities and interests simply mesh together well regardless of age. For example, I've met people with a background in music who were relatively far apart and age and from different cultures but they got along just fine.
To some extent it does. Some people are different. Some people don’t mind dating older and/or younger.
Most people have some sort of limit. It just depends it really does. What matters is if both are happy and it’s not someone underage
It is all about connection.
It is about what the other person brings to the relationship.
A person can be more mature than people their own age. Or people there age have lived long enough to have experienced a lot of bad in their life and that has made them bitter and it would be impossible to be in a happy, healthy relationships with them.
Someone younger, just starting out in life can be a huge breath of fresh air. Which in turn can make the older of the two experience a life they lost so long ago.
As far as the age gap, the younger of the two would be mature enough to seek and appreciate a partner that offers safety, security, maturity, stability and many years of wisdom. Basically someone with there shit together.
Yes, if one is underage and the other is not, call FBI.
If both are already on legal age, does not matter to me. I do not care if one is 18 and the other is 60, as long as they are now on legal age, it's their business.
People will say "there are difference on mindset" - what if the older person is "cool" or the younger person is "mature"? Again, we classified people as legal age, because this is the common age they can decide on their own. I say leave them be.
It depends.
In general I think that its nobody else's business what relationships two consenting adults engage in. Who says what age is okay and what age isn't? It's hard enough to find love in this world. If you are obsessed with catering to the arbitrary whims of other people to choose who to love you will be a very lonely and bitter person in the end.
But there are considerations of course. If, for example, a man wants children and a woman is too old to have them, that's an issue. Although it is possible that might be the case at any age. So even that isn't necessarily an age related problem.
It does. It's not an opinion or a preference it just does.
There are walls you'll never cross when dating someone very in age from you.
There will be a conflict of interst.
Generally the younger partner will be eager to live experiences that the older partner as lived and is well over.
It makes it hard to look ahead to the future
For young people having similar maturity is important or one will drive the other crazy. For older people it depends: if you are just in a short term relationship, it doesn't matter, but in a life long relationship, having one person get old before the other is miserable
It matters until up about 20 years of age.
Maybe 25.
After that it's acceptable to have a larger agegap if both of you don't mind it.
Before then I'd say body, mind and life-experience is so lacking that most of the time they don't know the weight of their decisions and the older person could easily manipulate.
The only REAL reason it matters is because it's best to have someone you have life experiences in common with (music, t. v shows, movies, history, etc.) and because if one of you is way older than the other, THEY stand a MUCH better chance of dying while you're still rather young.
Otherwise, age is just a number!
it very much matters when it comes to procreation, woman literally have to have kids by a specific age range and men need to have enough fertility to impregnate so it cery much matters for the survival of the human race.
Ultimately a relationship that doesn't bare children is a useless relationship
If the person can be your dad or grandparent then it matters.
Far age difference gaps can be too much to handle because for one as we get older we naturally will have less energy and the person can end up getting more sick often and even die while the other person is still young.
Yeaaah? With age comes wisdom. And if you can use your wisdom on those who are more younger, you can manipulate them.
But hey, it could go a different way for many who are younger+older. Guess it all depends on the person.
I don’t know If this is a myth but they say women age faster, If so..
It makes sense to marry a younger woman than me or at least in my age.
Yes after dating a guy one year younger than me, I have come to the conclusion that it matters. I feel more attracted to much older men but wouldn't date someone as old as my dad. That just sounds creepy.
Only when you are young as an mature adult it doesn't. That said it can still go against wishes, ie she needs to be fertile for family future etc.
No, because chemistry and connection is what matters , When you meet someone that connects with you well , That’s what matters , age really means shit
Na it's just so bullshit ignorant people say. They never ask themselves where they even got those ideas from.
At some point there is no real difference on your lifestely even with a ten year age gap or one year age gap
No, if you are both adults, anything goes.
Doesn't matter to me, as long as we are on the same page and she isn't underage then age isn't important
No age to me those not matter if u love the person then i don't see why not be together
Yes, if there is too large of an age gap so you don't have anything in common except your money and her boobs.
no and neither should height, race, sexual orientation etc.
It doesn't matter at all. Look at Ryan Reynolds 46, and Blake Lively 35 🤗
Not necessarily but if the mindset of the people in the relationship is affected by the thought that their is age gap between them then it might not work.
Yes. Each partner is at a different stage in their lives, different maturity and outlook, different things matter.
Doesn't mean you can't successfully mitigate this but it does matter.
im currently dating a guy who is almost 25 years older than me. I've never been happier.
Sure. There is a point where age differences are too great. I only go. up. to 8 years younger.
As long as they are both of legal age, age gap doesn't matter. True love doesn't depend on age
Anything the couple allows to matter, matters.
It wouldn't matter to me anyway assuming I would want a relationship, I don't.
Because older men better have a lot of fuckin money!
As long as everyone is of legal age and freely consents, age make s no difference.
Doesn't matter to me, as long as both are legal and consenting adults.
I don't mind age difference if I love him/her
I don't know about relationship
But i had best sex with older woman
Well yea. You can’t date a 9 year old lol
Depends on how big the gap is
As long as the man is older.
No, not at all. Age is just a number.
However I prefer them be 10 years or - age
Only if you let it
