Does age matter in a relationship?

In a relationship should age be a contributing factor, how are relationships between older and younger viewed (nothing illegal). I am curious about what people think both ways, older women with younger and older men with younger. Does age mean anything when two people want to be together. If so what and why?

it is just another one of a few factors that do matter, yes...

and how do you go about it, is different for everyone... but it should be about the two in the relationship (or three... or more in some cases, lol) if the age difference does not have a significant influence or impact on things like affinity, compatibility and what both seek from that relationship, then the age difference won't be a negative issue... and other times, the difference in age might be something that they would both enjoy and benefit from their respective ends...

so, case by case scenario... it really is about how you go about it, and how everything else, the other factors fit in place.. or does not

personally... the age difference I've had is being four years younger, and it didn't bring any substantial "difference" at the time, we were both pretty much on the "same page" about most, if not all things that did matter

I am 24 my girlfriend is 19. My dad is 20 years older then my mom. Age is no problem

Not really for hookups, but if you're talking family and kids, who wants to be 65 and going to your kids' high school graduations? Who wants to be 80 before any grandkids are born?

The greater the age gap, the greater experience and knowledge one person has over another. The worst of it is when it starts with one person in their late teens or early 20’s while the other person is late 20’s or early 30’s. Your prefrontal cortex fully develops at 30, and that’s a huge difference in the capability of making decisions. There’s a massive air of confusion during one’s youth, one that allows them to be easily led down another path without really thinking about if it’s “right” for them or what they want, especially if they’re being led by someone they trust. Whether or not the older person has malicious intentions, they bear a great deal of responsibility for the decisions made in the relationship as they’re the more knowledgeable and reliable of the pair, which is not a healthy burden to bear nor does it create an equal standing in the relationship with their younger partner.
