When people of the opposite sex are friends, at least one of them is attracted to the other. Something has caused them to never get together. Either the guy has been friend-zoned long ago and still hangs around, or the girl is doing the same thing.

You could always say you need an "Escort" to a certain event. While on your "date," you can slightly push limits and see how they respond. Some people just need to know it's OK to do this.

If the man is single and not gay or sexual, then he's not your friend - he's there to bang you and maybe to date you (with only very rare exceptions). Single guys have no use for a female "friend", but some will accept the Friend Zone because it gives them a reason to be close, so that when the girl is sad or depressed or needy, he'll be there to take advantage.

It's naive for a woman to think she can be "just friends" with a single man.

I think they can be friends as long as the relationship benefits both of them. As soon as it feels parasitic or nonbeneficial, the victim has the right to friendzone whoever.
