A lot of historical figures that are popular in modern times have said that hard work is medicine for the heart and mind and soul. People who don't work hard get mental issues, social issues, health issues, accidental issues, harassment issues, delusional issues, poverty issues.

Happiness doesn't exist, but being content is. It's worth the effort, since so many of our habits we don't realize impact our mental health. Working on bad habits of yours and keeping good ones is a good way to be content in life.

@TheSpaceGnome I meant that even while content you'll still have shit that bothers you and struggles. However, you're just more at peace with it all when you are content and it doens't bother you as much. Life is just easier.

Happiness is experienced in segments of good moments, but it's not a consistent feeling you have, so people shouldn't expect for it to be.

Part of being content is having the ability/power to problem solve. I enjoy challenges so long as it's not going to damage me, and I enjoy being creative. So zero struggle is boring to me.

What people ACTUALLY want is "contentment". But too many stories and movies have wrongly convinced people it's happiness they should be seeking.

Effort is for a goal you want to achieve, a goal you want to achieve is only for the sake of happiness. Happiness is the reason to exist.
