I seem to remember this almost identical question being asked not so long ago.
Absolutely, I'll only lend money to those I trust, who can give me security or who's legs I could break
Never give money except for extreme circumstances like family members in health emergency.
Pretty much it and I would need proof it's a real emergency. He's only saying a family crisis and urgency but he won't explain more and there isn't aren't any proof to his claim. This all sounds weird to me.
It's probably a good reason to consider breaking up if he's trying to use you and doesn't respect you enough to tell you specifically why he wants the money.
I gave my girlfriend 4.5k last week. You're being a tight arse. $500 is nothing. Anyone on minumum wage will get that back in their next pay.
Well he won't specify what exactly is the family emergency about (I have the rights to know what exactly is my money going to be used for), was getting defensive and insisting after I said no. I've never in my life asked anyone for money so that's new to me.

Thank you. I thought so. The fact that he insisted after telling him no, is making me reevaluate the relationship.
That's not great either, but the bigger concern in my mind is the fact he's trying to make his money problems your money problems.
If he needs $500, there should be a lot of places he could get it. He's just hoping to get the money from someone he doesn't need to pay back by using a "we're banging" discount.
He should be telling you what the family crisis is if he wants money from you!
