Was this my fault with my girlfriend?

Me and my girlfriend barely argue but today we both had a bad day. We had an argument first thing in the morning. She smokes and she knows i don't like smoking but she can do what she wants. I came home from work and seen a pile of cigarettes and she was in the backyard smoking. I don't get mad easy but i asked her why she smoked a whole pack, then she told me to leave. she had another pack on the table, and i just grabbed it and destroyed it. She slapped me, then started crying, then left.

i really feel bad now and ever since then she hasn't responded to any of my calls. What could i do to make this better. I have something personal going on i was going to tell her today actually, then this occured.

No one wants to be criticized for their vices. She probably doesn’t even like that she smokes but it’s what eases her mind, sometimes that 5 min smoke break just helps one decompress. You need to talk to her, tell her that you were having a bad day and apologize for getting upset. She’s probably got shit going on too.

Let me start by saying that she was wrong for slapping you. Maybe you shouldn't have destroyed that pack of cigarettes but she shouldn't have slapped you either. Give her some space for now. Send her flowers and a little note saying you're open to talk to her and solve this issue. She also needs to apologize.

i will admit something and i felt super bad because she got laid off from her job. in the morning i said something i shouldn't have. i told her "you've been sitting around for a month not doing anything". The truth is she does do things. i will buy her flowers, i feel bad on my part too
