This is a good learning experience for you. Never say one thing when you want another. Don't say "Let's save money and not buy each other Christmas gifts this year," if you'll get upset by not receiving a gift. People need to learn to stop saying one thing when they mean another. This is one of those language barriers. Guys when they say leave me alone, they mean it. Often they are processing their emotions and don't want anyone else there. So when a guy who isn't used to being around women hears "leave me alone," they don't understand that what she is really saying is "I need reassurance that you love me." So they do what they would want and give you your space. It's a communication breakdown. He cares thats why he left, he took you at your word.
