Getting someone off your mind?

How do you get someone off your mind when you have no way to talk to them?

This day and age, there's always some way to get in touch with another person so that's a bit odd. I'm assuming you're consciously avoiding them or they've unfortunately passed on.

A few questions I have in mind:

1. Is there really no way of communicating with them?
2. Who is/was this person to you? An ex? Fling/situationship? Were they really important?
3. Why have they been on your mind?
4. Why do you really want them off your mind?

Personally, getting clear answers to those questions may lead you to the bottomline of why you're stuck with those thoughts. Then when you have figured out the facts in your situation, you can start moving forward without regrets or lingering thoughts. Another thing is give yourself some form of distraction to get your mind off them like books, music, movies, etc. Target activities that won't remind you of them.

If you end up thinking of them again and it brings you sadness/pain/regret, let it happen. I think that's part of getting someone off your mind.. at some point in time, whatever emotions you associate with them will fade and you will stop fixating on them.
