My boyfriend (34) picked me (30) up Friday afternoon to spend the weekend at his place. Upon arrival he put his wallet on the counter and I noticed it is exactly the same wallet as the one I got from my sister. I opened his wallet for further study and he suddenly called me to help him making the salad (which is odd because he doesn’t like salad and mentioned he is going to make something else for dinner). During cooking I was wondering what’s in there that he doesn’t want me to see. So this morning when I was preparing breakfast I took another look in his wallet and found an Instax picture of him and his ex. So he is very well aware of the existence of this picture in his wallet.
I felt very uncomfortable seeing that. It makes me feel like he is thinking of someone else while being with me. I think the wallet is different than any other place to keep traces of an ex. You carry your wallet around with you all the time after all. I also think it is disrespectful towards me since there is clearly no place for us in his wallet?
Maybe it is worth to mention that, earlier, through our conversations, I had a feeling he is still not over his previous relationship and I confronted/talked to him about it. I told him that I would not want to be with someone who hasn’t taken care of his feelings for a previous relationship. Now this happens and it sort of confirmed my suspicion.
His previous relationship lasted 6/7 years and they broke up because his ex doesn’t want to settle down.
They broke up in 2020, so it’s been three years since they broke up. After we met in March this year, he pursued me and we got into a relationship in July.
What do you guys think? Do you think it is wise to continue this relationship?
