I've often noticed people who claim to "hate" racists are often subconsciousy THE MOST racist/prejudice. They just don't want to see their faults and admit it.
So is the psychological principle of "projection" also true in the case of people who say they "hate cheaters?" Are they themselves harboring many traits of cheaters that could easily make them a cheater in the future?

Yes. Because cheating is generally a character flaw. People don't have a moment of weakness and cheat regardless of what they might tell you. Cheater cheat because they are cheaters. And people CHOOSE cheaters because they are attracted to cheaters (usually subconsciously but still all the same).
So yes, many of times a person who chooses a cheater is a cheater themselves. Relationships to them are generally score keeping and one upsmenship.
It does to me, or else they have made poor choices in the past. in any case I have no interest in dating someone so negative.
