Do you forgive those who have hurt you? How?

I remain civil, polite, and forgiving. I don’t bring up the past when it comes to petty behavior, like if someone talks down to me or condescendingly.. if they start to warm up to me, and act respectful, Ill let bygones be bygones.

but I like to resolve stuff when people have really hurt me, and if they can’t cooperate, and it’s in the work place, that’s a problem and I’d probably get someone hire up involved in the situation if it continues.

if it’s personal outside of work and they don’t work with me to resolve the problem, I’d probably cut ties with them considering the circumstances.

cutting ties with one doesn’t mean I won’t forgive them, because that just builds up inner rage that I might take out on someone innocent, so my goal is to purify my mind, and I pray for them. Obviously something is going terribly wrong in that persons life and I start to feel sorry for them. I will not associate with them..

like I said I’ll be civil and respectful and I won’t mirror their behavior, but I can’t have that kind of bullying in my life for the sake of my health.

I think the fact that I’m a believer and God fearing makes it so much easier. I don’t go to church and I don’t pray out loud, it’s all internal. I have a communication with God. He hears and sees and knows all so I don’t even have to explain myself, and he gives me a peace of mind and even the toughest moments of my life, that’s one of the reasons I know he exists, but I won’t go bashing or force upon anyone who doesn’t believe. It’s most def a feeling that you have to experience for yourself

So yes, I do. It only hurts you if you hold a grudge.

I have. One way is to understand they are human and their flaws. Christ helped with this in terms of selflessness, seeing the other person as valuable, their humanness. I'd have to think harder to explain this better.

I hear there is a good book on this subject, I'd have to look up, meant to read and haven't.

Forgiving self is similar.

I don't hold on to my anger at all of the wrongs in my past, but I also don't forget who did those wrongs.

Holding on to my anger harms me.

Forgettting who hurt me gives them a chance to do it a second time!

I just decide not to resent them for what they did. It does not mean I have to keep them in my life. For example, I want nothing to do with my abusive ex but would be pleased if she finds happiness. If she did, she probably wouldn’t be abusive anymore.
