I was with someone for 8 years I loved her more than I have ever loved anyone, we broke up 8 months ago and I've sorted myself out started talking to a really beautiful girl and she is really interested in me she have all of the right qualities I want in a partner, we have been talking for awhile and i do like her but my heart is with my ex that I know I can never be with, I feel soo confused I don't want to feel this way, maybe I should have given myself more time to heal but I have never been in a situation like this and I just want to move on from the past, man I don't know what to do

Its never easy dealing with this type of thing but its also not fair to drag a girl along until you feel you want to let go of your ex. You arnt ready for a relationship if you are still pining over another. Be honest to the new girl and yourself. Do things for yourself which distract you from your ex ( gym, sports, etc)... it will get better

I am going to the gym looking after myself I thought I was ready, but guess not, I'm not going to drag anything on I will speak to her tonight, I really do like her I'm. just confused as to why I feel the way I do

If this new woman is so awesome she deserves your attention. Not just your actions but emotions. If you can't do that you need to be honest with her and not waste your time. I hope you move past the old one. She's not worth losing the new one.

Yes you should have given yourself more time, but seek out a therapist and get their opinion. Or, be honest with this new girl and tell her the truth.
