With one girlfriend I noticed if her parents gave her a gift she would look after it carefully. If I gave something to her she didn't.

How she treated my gifts were symbolic of how she viewed me in retrospect. Think about that.

Well if your gift isn't precious than I think it means you aren't precious. That means she doesn't see you as the best guy she can get. Which means she will upgrade when she can.

I don't want to poison but pyschacks did a youtube episode on "Women treat Men as Men treat Jobs". Even though we are happy with our job if we get another offer we might with regret take the upgrade. Women being hypergamous creatures - bless them - are inclined to take a relationship offer if it is an upgrade.

If you get the point hypergamy doesn't end after dating becomes marriage. The woman has just locked in a reasonable minimum deal is all. It is not like it used to be and she gets only one deal in a lifetime. With no fault divorce she gets as many deals she can wangle. Hypergamy only ends when she has got the best deal she thinks she can get.
