It depends on how honest you are with yourself and then. If you spend a lot of time trying to change into the person you think will help that relationship morph into the one you want, it can be a long time.


If you just accept that people are who they are and you decide to either take what you have or move on, it may be quicker. I don’t think dating even really gives you the full depth of a person so I think it is entirely possible to be happy dating, get engaged, get married, have children and buy a home, and only then come to see some aspects of that person that you never saw or knew before. It’s all different for everyone and all relative.

When they start to tell me bullshit stories, often because they feel the desire to impress me or try to hide something they think I won't accept it. In reality they see just reflection of themselves in me and things which impress themselves and things they wouldn't want to accept, while they don't look behind this reflection.

Most times it’s pretty early on that I can tell if they are long term relationship material. There have been a few times I was wrong about a girl. Either way though, if I invest time and / or money into her, I keep up the relationship till she lets me get some or she leaves.
