Trending & News I'd been talking to my wife online for a few months before we met in person. I proposed the same day we met. We were together 23 years, married 21 of them until she died last year.
I knew the moment I saw her.
Worth noting that outliving the live of your life in your early fifties isn't what a romance novel ending looks like. I'm not a fan of the genre, but I'd guess Cinderella and her prince realised fairly quickly that shoe size isn't something to base a relationship on, and a successful marriage ends with one of you dying.
Don't misunderstand me. I'd do it again to have that time with her again, even knowing how it ends. Just don't kid yourself that it's easy to handle the loss.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
No, I’m sure it could not have been easy, but if you’re sure about someone then spending as much time with them as you can, however limited feels like a gift.
I understand that it’s not the fairy tale ending we see in movies and novels, but I’m sure it’s worth it.
Also, sorry for your loss. May you find peace in memories with her.
I knew it was going to marry her 6 months in. When you have the same morals and values the rest comes easy in my opinion.
Yeah that's been the hardest part for me too lol
Ah, the magical "aha" moment! For me, it was an exhilarating rollercoaster ride of small sparks! 😍 I remember that twinkle in my wife's eye when she effortlessly made me laugh after a tough day. The warmth in her voice when she spoke about our future melted my heart. It was those little moments of joy, lovebombing in the best way, that made me realize she was the one. It's the perfect recipe of love and magic! ✨👫❤️
Amy cheated on you multiple times with James the Foodie at my bar.

There is no "one". An individual can be in a happy relationship with a wide variety of people, not just one.
I've been married twice.
How I I realized that my first wife was a good choice for marriage is an interesting story. We worked together and bowled on the same co-ed bowling team. One of the many bets we had was that if her score beat me, I would have to take her out to dinner. I lost, not intentionally, though maybe I should have. We went to dinner, had a great time, and started dating. We got married a year later, and stayed married for 20 years with 3 kids, before an amicable divorce.
I met my second wife on a dating site. Our first date was at a nice restaurant. I got stuck in traffic and was 30 minutes late. Despite this, we had a nice dinner and started dating seriously. When I held her hand while we watched the ice skaters in Rockefeller Center NYC in December (a few months later), I realized that I wanted to marry her, and proposed a month later. We've been married for 9 years... and counting.
The moral of my story. Have dinner at a nice restaurant for a first date!
To be honest im not in one at the moment.
But when I do get in one there always come a moment when I say here we go again
Where I think about every thing that is going on and why I feel the way I do
The pros and cons
Is what I feel real or for a different reason
And then I think about all the reason that are positive and negative
Am I lonely or am I horny or do I really feel every thing I'm feeling
Then I have to ask how long do you think it would last..
What are the little things that I dont care for build up until I just wouldn't want to be around it
And then I ask my self could you handle a break up how fast could you get through it or over it
And then I might say it's worth the risk to find out
Once I ask my self all these question and if yes then I look by living it every day on how far I trust and respect
And when I get to the point I have nothing to worry about. And that she is in the same place as me. That when
Everything's opens up and I start allowing her in and showing her more of me
It's a process that I welcome
My wife and I have been happily married for 29 years.
There wasn't any particular point at which I realized that she was the one for me.
I liked her looks, figure, presentation and mannerisms. And we got along great. But I had had long-term relationships from the time I was 16, so those things weren't what made up my mind that she was the one.
We had similar values and ideas about ideal lifestyle. We both took the idea of marriage very seriously and considered it a lifetime commitment.
Once we had been going together for quite a few months, she even asked if I would be willing to go to a couple's counselor with her to see if we were compatible. No such idea had ever occurred to me but I said okay.
As it turned out, we learned a lot about ourselves and each other. It was really revealing.
It made me realize that she wasn't playing games.
In the end, the fact that I knew for certain that we loved each other and, more importantly, that I knew I could trust her completely, is what made me decide to spend the rest of my life with her.
I proposed a year after we met and married her a year later.
That was smart of her to suggest going to a couple's counselor, even before you were engaged. I think that is the first time I've heard of that. I always tell my friends who are considering marriage to see a couple's counselor, but I don't think any of them ever have.
Before we dated I was going to an event with him and two other guys in the city. The plan was originally to meet at the one guy’s house (mutual ex-friend) who organized it, same day that guy told me to just meet them at the event.
I wasn’t used to driving in the city and at that point there was nowhere to park, it was overwhelming. That guy treated me so badly over it. My partner got fed up with the other guys and had me drive to the entrance. He hopped in the car with me and we ended up parking 20+ minutes away.
I was so grateful for him talking me through it and making it where I wasn’t walking alone. At the time my partner was a friend as well but I stopped seeing him that way because of what he did for me when he didn’t have to
I don’t have that in my life right now
But there was a time I had feelings for a girl and it was like nothing else I experienced before or since
We were teenagers and unfortunately I was too chicken to do anything about it but I know I couldn’t get a moment’s sleep because she lived in my head rent free
I still want to find that again today but within a context where I can do something about it.
Im no longer shy or repressed, I’ve had very decent success with women
But part of me wants to be “stupidly in love” so to speak and I know it’s what it takes to build a true relationship
Everything else is fleeting
It wasn’t a single moment, it was a collection of quiet ones.
The way peace felt louder than excitement,
how safety felt sexier than chaos,
and how being understood felt deeper than being desired.
I realized he was the one when love stopped feeling like a high,
and started feeling like home.
I realized pretty early on after we met each other. Something that would break most relationships happened to us very early on, somehow it brought us closer together and I knew that if we were able to overcome such thing so early on then we can overcome anything. Today I'm sure I made the right decision in staying with him, we've had our hardships over the years but our love always wins and we're always there for each other and will always be. I love him forever.
My Friend got me a job at his company. The first day I started I heard a woman’s voice over the Intercom system. I asked my friend “who is that she sounds sexy”he told me to forget it I don’t have a chance. I made it a point to meet her and I asked her if she would like to get lunch together.
28 years later we are still happily married.
so I guess I knew right away.
When she told me to sacrifice her to save out hypothetical unborn kids before I even introduced her to my mother. This was as we crossed a bridge in NYC on the way to introduce her to my mother after I told her I hated crossing all the bridges to visit my mother because I just always thought they were going to collapse so I spent the 40 to 60 minutes it took to cross them thinking who I was going to save between my big brother, my Twin Brother and my little sister if the bridge collapsed. Every time I crossed them.
We've been together for over 7 years, and the honeymoon phase still isn't over. Also, while I imagined myself getting married, I can't imagine myself not marrying her.
It wasn’t one dramatic moment.
It was a slow, steady realization that kept building over time.
The way he made my life feel lighter, the consistency of his actions,
and how safe I felt being fully myself around him.
At some point I noticed I didn’t question his intentions anymore, I just trusted him.
That’s when I knew he was the one for me.
When I realized she made me want to be better, even when she wasn’t around. That’s someone to hitch your wagon to.
It happened pretty quick. We both knew how it was gong to end up. I really did not even propose to her. It was just this organic thing that we both knew.
I think it was just all the things the I came to realize about him as we dated. I ended up knowing that he was the one.
Marriage is a sold lifestyle in society, love is not sold with the deal.
Notice with every home foreclosure there is a divorce. Cause What's the point of Marriage without the lifestyle is the attitude. Marriage does not run on love. It only runs on lifestyle.
I've always been slow to love and like people, but I knew I was going to marry my wife less than 2 weeks in.
I think it's less of a realization and more of a decision that you actively work towards.
My buddy and his girlfriend at the time did this in college. We give him shit about it to this day and that was 30 years ago...😂😂 Still makes me laugh when I remember that party.
She was with me for 4 years and no problems. So we engaged for a year and then married. We did long distance for the last 3 years. It was an amalgamation. I was never sure sure, but figured there is always divorce. So we did it.
@pearl222 I can't say I can contribute much other than to say, being very similar to ultra similar, sure makes a relationship a walk in the park, a piece of cake 🍰 🏞️
Need I say more
In my last real relationship we both knew early on that we were inseparable❣️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Happily married for 14 years now and I knew he was the one about a year after we began dating.
@pearl222 Only realized it after she was gone
When she asked me to marry her. I mean, don't get me wrong I knew how great she was. But the fact that she made that kind of a commitment to me told me she was serious about being together forever.
It didn't take long at all. A few weeks, tops.
@pearl222 at age 20 we knew we are ment for each other
Her loyalty and daily visits while I was in the hospital after a car accident.
I'm single... I have realized that some girls are ideal for me, but they never did... so all of my loves were unrequited :(
The same fay I was diagnosed with cancer and they didn't run for the hills. This year is year 10.
To be more detailed.
2016: I was taken as a code 1 trauma patient by accident after getting into an accident caused by a drunk driver. It was 0400 and my spouse was at the hospital
2017: diagnosed with stage 2 testicular cancer. Spouse was there during the entire chemo process
2017. My spouse told me to quit working, go to university, and they would support me through it.
Married in 2018
2021, reaffirmed my decision when my spouse quit their 6 figure job to allow me to build my career. Moved halfway around the world with me.
you can never be 100% sure, you just settle for best you can get.
Process not epiphany.
Like by the second date.
What made u realise he’s the one
I like to keep my options open...
Maybe a year.
