I should have added that I do not consider a house husband to be a "thing", but a very valuable asset to a stable home, where this arrangement works perfectly for all concerned.

Off the top of my head I can think of a few house husbands I've known. One was temporary, the other was long term.

I didn't know the long term one well. I know that his wife made considerably more money than he could. He not only was a house husband, but he ran a day care in their home and he watched 7-8 other kids. He had been in the army for eight years as a medic before getting married.

One house husband married a woman a fair amount younger. He had already had a decent career and saved his money. She was in med school and expected to make good money as a doctor. They had a special needs child and decided it was best if he stayed home with the child while she became a doctor. However he was already a millionaire before she finished med school.

Another guy was going back to college in his early 30s. His wife made enough to support him and three kids, so they decided that he would watch the kids during the day, and go to night classes after she got off work. I would go to his house to study during the day while he was watching the kids.

I'm sure there are some but very few.

Most men do not want to do that. They aren't hard wired for that.

Most women don't want that anyway.

You'll hear people say "it works" for some people. The woman to earn all the money and deal with all the financial stress and the guy tending the home.

I would suspect all of those women will lose attraction and respect for that man after time. I doubt that works long term.

Men are men, women are women. I don't know why so many try to fight this. Society wants to feminize men and make women more masculine.

    Idiots.

It can be. Based on avg salaries there's prob very few younger people that fall into house husband or house wife because you need more than one salary to survive now. I'd say unless you're in the top 10% ( if I recall salary ranges correctly) of salary you might be able to have one person stay home to take care of the house. That said there are a few places in the country that have a lower home costs or rent that might be capable of pulling it off. But not for most of the 45 and under group

Sure, but not as much as it used to be, because of the economic situation.

It's an excellent scenario, though, especially for submissive, somewhat feminine guys who are most comfortable in a subservient role.

@blp11520 sometimes 2 incomes isn't enough anymore either. Companies have gotten way to greedy.

If you can afford to do that, then why not. Personally, we enjoy having the extra money.
