Why people in relationships thinks the grass in greener until their partner leaves?

My friend was in a relationship but she’s been talking to another guy, she said she wants to be with him. Now that her boyfriend broke up with her she’s not talking so much about the guy she was crushing on, Is this a case of you don’t know what you had until it’s gone? Why is it easier for people to think the grass is greener on the other side while in a relationship but can see things clearer wants their partner leaves them?

If you are in a relationship and some of the more basic needs are secured, it's normal to start to realise other needs not covered by your current partner.

It's an art to juggle needs and the available ways of securing them without breaking the current relationship.

You can't really replace a emotional connection, she delusional about the idea of the other guy that she didn't feel like she cared or needed the one in her life, when he left, the reality all came crashing down on her, she lost the person that cared for her and was there for her and who knows, maybe the other one rejected her or was just unavailable and she's now left with nothing.

Yes but her boyfriend was cheating on her too but he doesn’t know she knows. She didn’t tell him she knew about it, Why didn’t he tell her he was infatuated with someone else when he found out she was talking to someone’s else?

I would think when her boyfriend out out she was into another guy he would say I’m into another woman but he never said anything about what he was doing. Why?

They are both shitty people I guess, I can't really speak with certainty because I don't know how cheaters work cause I got nothing but loyalty running through my majestic veins but If I were to assume, I'd say maybe cause he wouldn't want the idea of him being a cheater spreading to others and that can sabotage his reputation, either that or maybe he didn't cheat and she just thought he did.
