Why do we get upset when people lie to us even when we know its a lie?

So when someone obviously is lying and based on what evidence you have you know it's a lie. Why do we continue to feel unhappy. Is it the lie or the fact that the person thinks you stupid enough to believe the lie.

It's both! Some of his lies were so outrageous that he had to think that I was stupid to believe him. But see, he did give his answer and that is good enough for him (even though he knows he's lying). Or he just won't answer or say anything at all if you ask him about it. That was the one my boyfriend used to use. Just don't say anything.
And yes, he knew I am not a stupid person, but he would lie anyway because he was doing something with someone (cheating) it was somewhere he shouldn't have been.

Either way, he was a compulsive liar and would lie to me even when there was nothing to lie about.

In all the year's he lied to me about almost every thing, I never found a way to not let me get upset. It's just a natural response to unacceptable behavior. And you resent the fact that he died think you are stupid.

My boyfriend passed away in September - and I can honestly say, it's nice to not be lied to anymore. It's peaceful.

For me if somebody lies to me I just got contact I don't want to waste my time with Liars it's just so time-consuming one of my friends said his dad died and then later on in the school year he said my dad contacted me and I was like 👁️👄👁️ called him out in front of everybody and he didn't know what to do and I just walked away
