Older. Main reasoning being emotional maturity and life experience, and knowing who you are as a person. From my own experience with trying to date people my age, people in their early 20’s still have the mindset and lifestyle of a teenager, and majority of them haven’t been through much hardship - so they haven’t reached the type of emotional maturity that I’m talking about. I’ve also noticed that some people my age don’t have the life experience that I have, and I don’t want to be with someone who’s only just experiencing those things now, as I’ve moved well past them. And a lot of people my age are still figuring out who they are as a person, which there’s nothing wrong with that and it’s normal, but I already know who I am and I don’t think that I could be with someone who’s still figuring themselves out.

Ofcourse there are people in their early 20’s who have all of these things that I’m seeking in an older partner, but it’s somewhat rare, and I haven’t come across anyone like that irl. I’ve found it to be much more common in older people.

Yep that's completely understandable, older people most of the time have good maturity, I can definitely understand wanting someone that's at least matching the same maturity as you.

I prefer dating someone the same age. 2 years younger max, 3 years older max.

I have more in common with people my age and it’s nice to grow old together.

Just a preference though. If I like someone, then I like them 🤷‍♂️

I don't really have a preference... I've met both older and younger than me, also my very same age...

the girlfriends I had, just happened to be either younger or my same age (4 years younger at most)

other aspects will be much more important to me, not an specific age, lol

Preferably older or around my age. But at the end of the day, it’s about who’s emotionally mature, respectful, loyal, makes me laugh/happy, protective, and compatible with me.

You are 22 right? Well I appreciate you being open minded and respecting me. They probably have to learn somehow in your age group lol. Maybe you can teach them? 😅 in general, it’s hard to find mature people and emotionally maturity too. It’s why I prefer women in the age group I listed lol.

Almost every 30+ person from Belgium is childish to me ngl. But the women are indeed still more mature than the men. Like my Russian mom is 50 and so mature but my Belgian dad is 60 and acts like a literal adult toddler. But tbh he has mental health issues.

Well however much their maturity levels are, they raised you hella right, it all worked out Well, it's said that people reflect their parents on the way they are, you make your parents look good, I can't say I don't wonder why the older generations seem less mature tho, a mystery lol

This mental health stuff is getting out of hand, everyone is getting mental problems it's crazy, it's wild how mental health issues is just being normalized, I think it's quite uncommon to find someone that doesn't know anyone with a mental health issue lol

Yeah exactly but people need to get diagnosed without throwing it around lol. I had friends who were all depressed but none of them were actually depressed fr. They were just sad for a day or 2. But it's better now than in the past tbh. Rather have everyone being diagnosed than people not getting help. People who don't get help are susceptible to getting worse disorders like NPD.

      Yea help 😶😶😶

They felt a small glimpse of sadness and was like "I AM DEPRESSION 😭"

I didn't know mental issues evolve without help, I thought you'd have to go through worse experiences that makes it worse for it to get worse, I thought you could just sleep it off every night until you get used to it and then ehh

    • Lisia

Well it depends on what you have ofc. Usually (talking ab depression rn) it starts with just being tired all the time, then you start laying in bed more 'cause you don't have the energy to do anything, then because you don't really do anything or take care of yourself anymore and self-isolate it becomes even worse and worse and worse. But going through worse experiences can always speed up the process or give you an extra mental disorder if one wasn't enough already 😃 I've noticed it with people that have addictions. They try to for ex. drink their sorrow away but then again it doesn't fix their problems and their brain cells are dying off in the meantime so it gets worse and worse again

Yea them addictions are no joke, I don't know how depression is cause I've never struggled with it but some people even lead to suicide so it surely sounds like a terrible time, the thing that always has me wondering is that some people develope it for absolutely no reason at all, I've personally ran through a week of it before with no actual reason to and I'm sure some go through longer so it's quite fascinating to me to know how that happens and why it happens, now I know some go through stuff and it's completely understandable but other have it for no reason and I believe it cause I've personally experienced it before, weird stuff

Doesn't sound toxic to me, sounds like just an extreme case of empathy which isn't bad, it means you aren't bias and it says you put yourself in people's shoes even when it comes to negativity and you don't let your emotions get in the way of it, it can be a good thing just how it can be bad and I wouldn't call it toxic, because toxic only means poison and thats only bad, with the proper analyzing this is a gift not a curse, it can help make good decisions, most of the time nothing good comes from reacting on only emotions, I think you should change that to 'enhanced empathy' it fits better.
