People who’ve lost their parents: is it okay for other to talk about their current lives with their parents around you or is it too upsetting?

It's OK to talk about it.

Yea, it might remind them of a lost parent, especially if it's been recent. If you know someone who as recently lost a parent, it might be a little tender. You can avoid the topic if you want, but if you don't it's not a big deal.

A person who recently lost a parent will be reminded of it a hundred times a day. Once more will make little difference.

A little sensitivity doesn't hurt if it's been recent. But you can't walk on eggshells avoiding the topic.

It's okay- I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt sometimes, but life goes on, and neither of my parents would want me to wallow in misery.

I lost my Dad last year. I don’t easily get triggered when someone talks about their Dad, but I do get a wave of grief from it. There’s so much I wish I could still do with my Dad. So much was left unsaid and I regret taking the time I had with him for granted.

It is ok. I came to realise that before I lost my Dad, I never considered this in the situation I now foid myself, so I shojdlnf expect others.

My loss doesn't mean someone else talk about theirs.
