There is no "the one." That's a Disney fairy tale.

There is also no guy who is the perfect fit. Rather, there are simply guys who share the majority of your morals and values and have compatible life goals, and guys who do not. But what gives a relationship the possibility of long-term success or not is whether or not you have compatible morals, values, and life goals or not.

Whether you like the same movies, music, fashion, ice cream flavor, etc. means next to nothing, and even his looks will mean very little after 6 months together if his morals, values, and life-goals don't align with yours.

The problem is that too many people - women especially but men too - don't pick their partners based on their morals, values, and life-goals, but rather on physical attraction (almost exclusively). Physical attraction can give you LOTS of strong feelings (called infatuation) early on, but infatuation is fleeting and certainly cannot sustain a relationship.

A suitable match - a guy with high compatibility with you for a long-term relationship - PROBABLY isn't going to peak out your attraction meter initially. In fact, he's far more likely to be the kind of guy who you normally ignore in favor of the guys who give you the strong feelings but are actually terrible for you long-term. The difference is that, after 6 months together, your feelings will likely be far stronger for the "plain ordinary guy" than for the "exciting guy" (the one who gave you such strong feelings initially), because after 6 months, you've seen all the problems with the exciting guy - and they're usually huge problems in the context of a long-term relationship.

It's up to you to prioritize what you want - but you also need to keep in mind how men value women - in particular, how highly men value youth in women and thus how a woman's social market value drops as she ages (if she's single and on the dating market). The more attractive a guy is to other women, the less likely you will be to get a commitment from him, and the more he can demand from a woman (i. e., the more important HIS priorities matter), because the more attractive he is to most women, the more options he has.

Found the one once before so I know it exactly. Its when I truly love her inside out for who she is. All I wanted was for her to be the best version of herself, and what I wanted her to grow towards perfectly aligned with who she was striving to be. And this was mutual so we really valued each other, had the deepest connection, one thing that's to insane to describe that ill just call an intimate connection on the deepest level.

Only one issue with the term, I'm no longer with her since we couldn't overcome the long distance in time. If she truly is the one it means she will inevitably come back and we work out, but in reality its more like she was a candidate to be "The one".

Because "The one" would be a relationship just as deep as that one was, except this one actually makes it.

I agree with @MrOracle that there is not just one guy who can be The One. I suspect that there are hundred or thousands of people on the planet who could be your lifetime partner and make you happy.

When you one of The Ones, you don't need to ask this question, because you know you have found the answer.
