I’ve been given the verbal diagnosis by a psychologist. How does one treat it?
Oh man, that sucks to hear. Dependent personality disorder, if I remember right from health class, means you like rely on other people too much and have a hard time doing your own thing. Like you always need someone else to take care of you or tell you what to do.
As for treating it, I think the psych probably wants you to become more independent yeah? Maybe try doing small tasks yourself without asking for help, even if it's scary. Like make your own lunch or do your laundry. And work on being okay when you're alone for a bit instead of always needing someone there. Easier said than done I know! But practicing being more on your own little by little could help you get better at it over time.
Talking to the psych more will probably help too, to get tips on how to deal when you start feeling anxious or overwhelmed. And don't be too hard on yourself if you mess up, just try again next time. You got this!

You are supposed to be dependent, so ditch your shrink and find yourself a man to lead you.

I’d say, don’t stay in your comfort zone, don’t look for partners that you can depend on, instead take the lead of your life in your hands and challenge yourself to be the person others depend on.
That's actually a thing? I would guess it's exactly what it sounds like
He seem like good questions that you should have asked the psychologist
