I'm sure that if I wanted to look at my fiancee's phone, she would allow it. However, she was born in China and almost everything on her phone is in Mandarin, so I couldn't read it if I was looking at it. However, I trust her. I have no reason to distrust her, and she is not my adversary, so I don't need to verify that she is being a good girl. That kind of distrust tears relationships apart. And she is entitled to privacy, even after we have been married for 30 years.

And she has the same attitude towards me.

My wife and I have access to each other's phones but have no interest in "checking" them.
I wouldn't be with someone who snooped in my shit. Doing so would indicate lack of trust. And it would mean they were a sneaky, insecure, controlling low life.
If a girlfriend did that, I would dump her. She's a psycho.

We have each other's passwords but the only thing I check regularly is his email but not to be snooping or anything. He gets emails for our kids appointments, school events and things going on in our neighborhood.

I want to be able to trust someone but all relationships are different so some people may value more privacy while others want more openness. I will say that people need to be careful.

It isn’t all about seeing whose cheating but telling all your secrets to someone you may not even be with forever too soon and early on. Things that he/she can later use against you and tell people things about you that you would rather not know.

Such as possibly family issues going on that they don’t need to be reading into. Different things if that nature. As for me if I can’t trust someone they’re probably not worth my time anyways

We share everything, passwords, and even the phones themselves, but we have nothing to hide from each other. Anyone who is that protective over a password and brings up the old privacy argument is not relationship material, period!
