I think open relationships is stupid. Why have a open relationship. People that do this just want to have their cake and eat it too. In the end what they have is a powder keg of drama waiting to happen.
Its just like friends with benefits, you think you are good to go until sooner or later someone catch feelings and wants more. We are not built for that kind of relationship, but typical human beings thinks they can beat the built in system with shear will power. It will catch up with you just give it time.50 Reply

u 1 yWhat is the point of calling it a "relationship" if it is open? It's like being married but giving each other permission to cheat. Why not just keep dating whoever you want without getting into a relationship at all?
And when you die, do you get buried next to the one you fucked most often, or the last one you fucked?30 Reply

1 yI don't really get it. It's a very different value system from mine which values monogamy so much. I think where I get confused is how to deal with any kids born out of such relationships, like if there's one woman and three men. Do they all take care of the kids or just the one who impregnated her? It sounds very messy to me at least if pregnancies get involved, especially in the polyandrous case.
Then again if there are no plans for kids whatsoever and careful use of birth control, then I don't see much wrong with that except I don't see the appeal of living together, e. g., in that case (assuming these relationships work towards sharing a household). Since it's generally much easier to maintain a very exciting and fun relationship if people don't share a home.

Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yThere is no way that an "Open Relationship" is a good thing as they are usually proposed by the woman who is probably already in another relationship, even if it is only an emotional one, If you want to listen to some tales around 'Open Relationships/Marriages' go to these Channels on Youtube;

1 yLots of emotional dynamics involved.
They can work with the right personalities, but they can end up in an explosion with the wrong ones as well.
Sometimes just a friends with benefits is a little better.

Oh I got it
1 yIt can work if everyone is on board completely and there is no insecurity involved. I'm polyamorous and my relationships are going perfectly.

Your situation is pretty unique, so I can see it working. How would you feel if your boyfriend wanted to have another girlfriend for when you are out with your girlfriend or wanted you to share your girlfriend? Since you are having sex with 2 people, shouldn't it be OK for him to as well? I can see him being happy as it is since it's a woman as your other partner, but I'm just curious.

I'd honestly love it if he and my girlfriend were involved. That would be ideal honestly.

Well it's a bit of a long story why it can't really happen.

That's why it worked: there is only one dick.
1 yBy no means, it is a real relationship. It is just a bunch of people with commitment issues pretending to be in a relationship.

1 yNot worth it. If you're partner wants someone else involved in your relationship they don't give a fuck about you. They'll lie and say they only love you but that's not true. Open relationships only complicate things further.

1 yYou might as well not be in a relationship and just date casually. All this means is your single but still have a fall back safety net.

1 yit's pretty much friends with benefits.
For married couples, it means one of the couple can't satisfy the other, so it's OK to look outside the marriage.11 Reply- 1 y

1 yUnless it's open on only the man's end it is no different than cuckoldry. If you are with a girl and she says she wants to fuck other dudes you should immediately break it off or make her recreational use only otherwise you are a loser.
00 Reply 478 opinions shared on Relationships topic. To me its not intimate anymore the whole point of an intimate relationship is that no other person except your partner knows you as you know yourself. Third person is just a third wheel.

Okay
Anonymous(18-24)1 yI kinda like the idea of one, but I fear I might be too insecure to actually make it work.
214 Reply- 1 y
Why?
Opinion Owner1 yWhy I like the idea? I crave love yet I also crave the freedom to play around. Even if the relationship doesn't stay open forever, I'd like to be able to enjoy the liberation of youth without forfeiting the ability to find a serious partner. Maybe as I get older, I won't want to play around as much and we'd close the theoretical relationship anyway. Or maybe I and this made up partner of mine will find that an open relationship works best for us anyway, and we'll keep it open.

Okay
Opinion Owner1 y@aceleon Boohoo. Who cares.
Opinion Owner1 y@aceleon Guess that makes two of us.
Opinion Owner1 y@aceleon That's a lot of emotion for something that has nothing to do with you.
- 1 y
actually not a lot i only feel 1 thing and 1 is not a lot, CONTEMPT, nothing to do with me, well global warming has nothing to do with me either, or earthquakes, floods, mass murders, lethal diseases etc etc but i still despise them too, you and your kind is nothing different from them.
Opinion Owner1 y@aceleon Christ. My kind is not only deadly to others but also endangering all life on the entire planet? That's pretty bad.
Opinion Owner1 y@aceleon Sometimes we just don't get the things we want in life, no matter how 'nicely' we ask.
