Is it a bad idea to apologize to someone years later considering they probably don't care anymore and moved on?

If it is for an accident, it is wrong anyway to take so long to apologize. If it is not for an accident, it is senseless anyway because in my book, apologies are only acceptable for accidents; not for behavior.

What you CAN say is that you are "just setting the record straight" that you realize that what you did was wrong.

I don't think apologies ever do any harm. Its just that, one of my principles of life is to be mindful, not to get to a point where you take an action that needs to be apologized for later.
