Am I asking for too much?

I live with my life partner and his daughter. She is almost 18. A constant battle we have been having is that I think she should do just one chore around the house to help out. Anything. Take out the trash. Wash the dishes. Sweep something. Anything. Just one chore a day to help the family out. I am 5 months pregnant and have a toddler who is very high energy. I am more than happy to clean almost everything around the house. I just feel like she should contribute just a little at least. This has been an ongoing argument between my life partner and I. He says she shouldn't have to do anything and is always sticking up for her. And tells me I am making excuses/ being lazy. What should I do /am I in the wrong

I would say you have not solved communication issues with your partner. Without setting boundaries and rules for yourself and then communicating them to your partner, not much would change. The problem with his daughter is just an effect. You can't do anything with it without solving the cause.

If she refuses, her dad should set consequences like loss of privileges or allowance so he has her back. It's about teaching responsibility.
If he continues enabling her without regard for your needs, then house meeting is needed to establish healthy household dynamics and responsibilities before the baby comes.

She still lives under her dad's roof she can do some chores. When I turned 18 and graduated from high school. I pretty had no rules anymore, no curfew, didn't have to tell my parents where I was going or stay up as long as I want, I was an adult. But I still had to do chores. I live there so I had to help out
