How can I get my boyfriend to change his mind about no smoking policy?

So, my boyfriend of about a year is in the middle of buying a house - and also not taking on any of my ideas by the way - and when he mentioned a moving-in party, we discussed it and he told me that in no uncertain terms will ANYONE be allowed to smoke on his property, not in the house, not outside - they can go out the front gate.

I don't smoke but a number of my friends, and his friends do, and I think that this rule is overkill, but he's putting his foot down because he REALLY hates smoking, and I'm worried some people won't come if they can't smoke, how can I get him to compromise to at least allow it just for this one party?

Okay, I concede on the smoking part.

But he's told me this also applies to vaping (and all forms of e-cigs) and weed, which is really going too far, especially if we have guests over for a party.

Ummmm no hopefully he gets rid of you sooner or later. Unsupportive of his decisions and also unsupportive of him wanting to take care of his things. Using him so you can live a party in his suspense. You would be gone if I was dating you

We have a no smoking policy/rule in our house and in our vehicles.
One of our friends' smokes, so he goes outside, or we will make a pit stop on long drives so he can fire up another lung rocket.
He is very respectful and does not toss the butts on the lawn.
It works out just fine for all of us.

Smoking in a house or car litterally ruins it.

No, it's not going too far at all. Sounds to me like your boyfriend needs to get a higher quality girlfriend.

I think he has a good policy. At 53 I have been attending too many funerals of my friends & Family that smoked.
