If I get thirsty during exercise, stopping, drinking a bit more water than quenches the thirst, then waiting until the stomach settles works fine. Prehydrating also works well, just remember there's such a thing as too much, causing water-poisoning. Pale yellow or just starting to be clear urine is a good indicator of healthy hydration for most people.

it's recommended in small sips... but it doesn't work for me... I get abdominal pain if I drink anything during physical exercises... so it happens I'm dehydrated after longer runs... I need to solve it somehow
