Making someone you love angry at you or disappointed in you - which is worse?

For me it's much worse when I disappoint people that love. When my wife gets mad at me, she cools within an hour.

But the few times I disappointed her, it was horrible and she distanced herself for days. This woman literally idolizes me so when I see her getting bitter or distant, it means I really screwed up.
