Am I a sh*tty person for this?

So there's this guy I've seen at school. He's really close friends with my German friend, let's call him Varten. So him and Varten have known each other for a while and I'm pretty sure they're both on the wrestling team. So yesterday I gave him a letter explaining how I liked his shirt and hoping we could be friends. He then told my friend to tell me, if I wanna be his friend just go straight up to him. So the next day I did. I introduced myself and he introduced himself. Here's the catch tho, I have a crush on him but he has a girlfriend. Am I weird for becoming his friend even though he has a girlfriend? I support him and his girlfriend relationship but if they did break up would it be weird if me and him got together in the future? I mean me and him have a lot in common music-wise and he's a cool guy, but me liking him and me being his friend makes me feel like a shitty person because one I'm a girl who is his friend and two how would his girlfriend feel about him having a friend whos a girl. I'm NOT trying to ruin anyone's relationship dude. Also, I did try my best to not make it weird when I introduced myself out of the blue. I even explained to him that I was the one who wrote the letter and he was cool with it so...

Yo don't even stress about it. You didn't do anything wrong by introducing yourself and becoming friends. Like you said, you totally support their relationship, it's not like you're purposely trying to get in between them.

As long as you keep things platonic and respect boundaries while they're together, I don't see an issue. You both have similar music taste which is chill. And hey, who knows what the future holds - maybe they won't work out down the line and you guys could vibe if single at the same time.

I wouldn't worry about his girl feeling some type of way either as long as you're just friends. She doesn't control who he can hang with. Just keep it honest and you've got nothing to feel shitty for, aye? Go with the flow, have fun getting to know each other. Don't overthink it!
