Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI'm 5'8 and somewhere between 155-160 lbs. I'm very curvy and I do tend to get a lot of attention for it, mostly positive but there are of course a lot of guys who want someone more like my super thin friend or my petite sister! (my measurements are 43-28-36 for the record, so big butt and hips) I, for the most part, get hit on by a ton of men of different ethnicities.. black, Hispanic, italian, etc. Something has to be said for the different varying preferences between cultures... it must be just that, cultural! But is it biologically natural to like women who are still healthy yet more curvy? It seems like a tough question to answer especially over here on the west coast haha
I do get self conscious regardless of hearing that I have a really nice body etc... and this is of course due to societal pressures as well as comments I've heard from women who raised me, or friends, or other females. Any male that was around me growing up or boys at school also had some negative input because I was never small. So I've been trained to focus on the imperfections of my body and it's hard to get it out of my head completely. Here's an example of a time when I don't like my figure:
Let's say I'm in class and I want to get up and walk out.. in those situations I just want to have a guy's body... just get up and walk out knowing no one is thinking woah she has a huge ass etc lol and I swear there is no way to hide it! So basically there are times when I don't want anyone to notice my curves especially in school, I'd like to just be there as a mind and not a body if that makes sense?
On your preferable size, I'd like to mention that my older sister is 200lbs and 5'8 and she has DD boobs and has most of her weight up top. Body pretty much opposite of me (she's an apple, I'm a pear). I definitely think that she could lose some weight for health reasons as well as appearance. But she still looks good and carries the weight well. So yeah even I think 200 lbs or more IS too heavy but I think women would have a different opinion than men of what a good size is, afterall. we're not the one's who are looking to bang them (for the most part lol)
However, I think you ask a really good question! I have heard a guy say before that he was more intimidated by full figured women.. something about how a curvy woman would expect a guy with a bigger penis etc. I would be curious to hear more guys open up about the topic! I wonder if there are any guys who would admit to liking curvy women but suppress it for societal reasons...
AND finally thanks for your post, it's refreshing :)15 Reply- +1 y
There's definitely a big difference between cultures when it comes to a woman's attractiveness...Does the self consciousness about your figure have more to do with the attention it gets you, even if it's meant to be positive attention (from guys), or is it the focusing on imperfections, etc. and feeling like your body's unattractive?...I've also heard the "curvier girls want a bigger penis" thing before. Is that a false perception? You think there's any correlation there?
Opinion Owner+1 yI think a lot of the self consciousness comes from my past and thinking that it's unnattractive to be honest... but even positive attention at the wrong time can make me feel very uncomfortable as well! It can be bittersweet in that I'm flattered but a little uneasy at the same time. It is a false perception. I'm very very tight despite my big hips so any assumption that bigger hips=needs bigger penis isn't true.
Opinion Owner+1 yI will say that I do like a guy who is taller than me.. I prefer 6' but I am open to my height and above. As far as preferring a big muscular guy? I'm not a big fan of huge muscles... I've liked guys who were on the chubby/muscular side as well as the thin side and anywhere in between, but guys who are thinner or less muscular shouldn't be intimidated by a curvier girl in my opinion. I think height is something that is important to a lot of girls though regardless of whether or not they're tall
Opinion Owner+1 yIf you had a girlfriend, for example, who was the size that you mentioned.. do you feel like people would judge you negatively, or do you think the opposite... would you feel proud?
- +1 y
I think that some people would judge me negatively. I feel like most people are pretty accepting and just focus on their own lives for the most part. I would definitely feel proud. To me a girl like that would be beautiful and that's all I really care about. Other peoples' opinions don't really affect me too much.

+1 yI think those types of women are very pretty - they have meat in all the right places lol
Of course there's a fine line between curvy thick, and sloppy thick - and sloppy thick is like when the girl's belly is just dangling out, love handles are outta control etc - lol
I wish I could be a bit thicker; I'm 5'8 135 ibs - tall and petite - thankfully I'm like a C cup with a little junk in the trunk, or I'd be pretty much a walking stick :P
My friends always comment on how tiny I am - and I find that offensive lol
So yea, full figured women are very beautiful to me ^^
I honestly don't think men are neccesarily intimidated by them though - I'd say it's just more of what the guy deems most attractive.
For you, you'd take a full figured woman over a petite woman any day; other guys, not so much.
Like a dude can find a full figured girl attractive, but not to a point where he'd like to date her - if that makes sense.
We all do it - we all think " wow that person is cute / handsome / whatev " but choose to be with someone else because the other person is absolutely breath taking in our eyes, over the other person we saw before.
So it's all just preference in the end.03 Reply- +1 y
That body sounds great. Junk in the trunk and everything wow! I think there are still some guys who don't like junk in the trunk on a woman (it's becoming more rare) but personally I can't resist it.
I agree with the belly hanging out part, I've seen some girls that are thick but the fat is distributed really well on their body and they look very sexy. - +1 y
Awe thanks dudes :D
Yea, I think for a full figured girl - you definitely have to take a lot more care in keeping yourself in shape; because it would be easier to cross that line as far as getting " fat,"
But I definitely agree; the icon of super skinny with absolutely no meat is being forcefully shoved aside for the image of thin - medium women with some curves to em.
+1 yI used to be like that, I'm 6'2 -_- not fun especially since I'm scared of munchkins, anywhooo back to the point, I used to be curvy about a year ago (no not fat just curvy ha ha) and I got a lot more attention than I get now, like now I have a six pack and the non bulky muscle blah blah blah, I still have a figure, but it's obviously not as 'full figured' as I was before and I really don't get as much attention, and notice that my friend (very curvy, a bit chubby, not much) get lots of guys coming up to her, so umm no I don't agree, I think that's more for high school boys :)

hmm lucky I wish I got that sort of attention xD

This really is probably the most cliche subject on the internet. For men it's size doesn't matter (it matters to some extent-1" is bad), for women it's men love all shapes. Trust me I've known tons of guys over my life and the vast vast majority of us aren't into larger women. Can some of us not pull the rare 30 y/o that is fit? Sure there are lots of guys that have to settle and go for a girl that's preferable just 30-40 pounds overweight. Would they chose to be with a fit girl? For most yes
- +1 y
Well yea - it's pretty much the same as women; most girls look for fit / healthy dudes, as opposed to overweight guys.
Now the bigger guys though like there's a difference between fat guy and those huskier athletic guys - like line backer size in football - those bigger guys are just as sexy;
But like with the full figured chicks - there's a fine fine line between healthy thick, and borederline fat or just fat.
1.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. " I feel that many guys are intimidated by these girls of a bigger size and that they don't feel physically dominant around them so they choose not to pursue them, even though they find them to be attractive."
No dude your rationalizing in your head. Most men like thin or fit women probably because it's a sign of health. Who knows if that's even the case? It's our opinion and no I'm the last guy that is going to choose to feel a way due to what society wants me to. We are not intimidated by them. Does being fat make you strong? How many MMA fighters or profesional fighters are fat? If anything being fat makes you slow and makes your joints much weaker.
It's great you like bigger women because they need love too. Also if your 5'9" at 200 pounds you are medically considered overweight and are barely below the obese threshold so its definitely an unhealthy weight medically speaking. The most you could weight at 5'9" and be considered a healthy weight would be 169 pounds and at 204 you would be obese.011 Reply- +1 y
way to quote wikipiedia. wow what a show of intelegance. claps for you aren't you just f***ing amazing omg I have no idea why anyone should post anything else...oh right except you are wrong. The medical BMI charts are so far off the dot in the way of hight to weight standards that just using that is insulting.
- +1 y
My statement was definitely a theory, not proven fact... Let me rephrase what I meant by intimidated. Guys generally like to feel dominant and powerful. Being with a girl who is smaller than you to some degree makes you feel big, powerful, physically dominant, etc. Having these feelings around a woman is part of the attraction for a lot of guys. With a larger girl many guys may not get that feeling, which may cause you to not feel any attraction, even if you think she is good-looking.
- +1 y
So the physically dominant feeling which makes you feel good as a man is not there for some guys. That's what I meant by my statement. Again...theory. Also, you are automatically assumming the girls are fat. I'm not talking about just big blobs. I'm sure you've seen women before who were big boned and had naturally occuring larger muscle tissue, little bit of body fat, who were like 5'10"-5'11" 200 lbs, with curvy figures, large breasts, etc., who were defintely not fat.
- +1 y
I thought being 200 ibs at 5'9 was pretty heavy too; I'm 5'8 and being about 150- 160 is pushing " obese" by medical terms. But it does depend on how the weight is deposited; my best friend is 5'7 and 235 ibs - but her stomach is quite flat, the weight being deposited on her hips, but and boobs - all the good places.
She always gets gawked at by guys - so I don't think the intimidation thing is a huge factor. - +1 y
I think what really intimidates men is a woman who demonstrates that she doesn't really need a guy; overally indepedent, too bold, too ambitious, belittles the guy - but those type of women come in all shapes and sizes so.
- +1 y
It's starting to look like"intimidated" was not the right word lol...Does your friend get approached a lot or just looked at? When guys are looking it's mostly always positive looks I guess?...How old are you and your friend (taboo question)? I ask because there seems to be a little bit of a correlation between younger guys and thinner girls, and more mature guys and "curvier" girls...Do you think so?
- +1 y
Hmm come to think of it, it's more looks - positive, but not very many approaches. They are by older guys typically - like her current boyfriend is 30 and she's 18 - I get more looks / approaches by younger guys - hmm didn't think about that -
Why is that you think? - +1 y
I would be totally guessing. I kind of think that curves make you look more "mature", which is maybe why she attracts older guys. I think within the younger population, 16-22, people are thinner on average, so being thin is more popular, or attractive among that group. I also think that within that age group mainstream ideas have a stronger affect. The idea that thin is sexy, etc. Could be anything. There does seem to be a definite correlation though, in general
- +1 y
Yea that makes sense to me -
- +1 y
Older men tend to date larger women because in this country people tend to gain weight over their lives. There is one exception. I work in the medical field and I almost never seen really obese people in their 70+'s, they just don't make it there. I think most guys would prefer a more fit or thinner women but the age 40+ women that are still thin are rare so can be very selective about a man. Not sure what sexkitten61 is talking about with wikipedia
- +1 y
It's an interesting topic though. If your talking about a tall muscular chick that weights 200 pounds I can see how a guy would be intimidated by her in a sense that they may be able to beat them up. Normally when I'm intimidated by a girl it's because I would love to be with her but I realize she is beautiful, maybe financially successful, classy, and great personality so she can have her pick of guy. By intimidated I mean I realize my chances would be slim with her.
Why are you speaking for other men? I am simply not attracted to an overweight woman (if a woman in 200 plus pounds she is overweight). I am not intimidated I am simply not attracted to a big woman.

+1 yYou make me happy ^___^ I am short and full figured and have known only one man who likes this (My boyfriend) I'm glad there's more people like him out there cause we need love too! I think that you are indeed on to something I mean we're not twigs that will easily sway to one's wishes but we aren't gonna break if things get rough either.

there's also a lot of social presure to be the thin girl. I can't tell you how many times in my life I've been called fat I'm not I work out religiously play tennis rock climb swim I mean this is the figure I have and I'm damn proud of it
- +1 y
I am and am happily taken

i just wish we could send social standards back about fifty or so years before being thin was a huge thing.

"i just wish we could send social standards back about fifty or so years before being thin was a huge thing."
You could say the same thing about men, just compare men on the cover of magazines to today. If men had been ripped back then people would have been disgusted thinking the guy is starving. Yet today many men opt for this look, especially low fat around the abdominal area.
a woman can be any height at 200lbs and she'd be fat
so yes, anything over 130/140lbs is too heavy to pick up and move around in bed33 Reply- +1 y
Yup and the same thing applies to men@ Muscle, bones structure, and the anatomy of the human body in general are all commonly cited myths.
+1 yIf she looks like she could kick my ass, then I am intimidated.

What's wrong with his weight? That sounds about right actually - my brother is 6'4 about 185 - he plays football / basketball, can dunk as well, and plays football too.
He wasn't insulting bigger girls - he was just stating it was a bit odd that a woman would weigh more than him at 5'9 - 200ibs is a heavy weight for a girl - lets be real here, especially at that height.
He's definitely not a toothpick - so what are you getting at?
