Is it strange that my boyfriend unblocked his ex-wife?

So my boyfriend of four months confesses to me that he unblocked his ex-wife on Facebook because he wanted to get closure about his dog that they shared back when they were married. He then admitted that it wasn't all about the dog, and that he should have not done that, and from what I know , he blocked her again. I was a little upset when he admitted all that to me. Should I still be concerned? I never doubt his love for me. I know that he truly loves and cares about me. I am a bit concerned that he's trying to show off to his ex that he's now in a relationship.

My ex wife isn't blocked on FB.
She wanted to keep in touch as friends my girlfriend knows I'm in touch with her and I don't hide any messages. She was ok with it.

When my ex started making strange requests I even discussed them with the girlfriend before deciding to keep my distance again.

I'd say it's ok for them to chat keep things open don't be grabbing his phone to check his messages but try to be involved in the conversation to the point your not showing jealousy so he's comfortable sharing what's said and his ex is aware he's not keeping anything secret.

My girlfriend also has an ex who is the father of her son so from the begining I knew there was a need for them to have a dialogue. She keeps me in the loop as to goings off and it's clear there is no chance of them wanting to get back together again.
I've met her ex I get on ok with him and there I no chance of things coming to blows or anything like that and I wouldn't want her to cut him off for her son's sake.

It doesn't mean he doesn't love you It just means he still has feelings for her. Doesn't mean he loves her. It could just mean he still got unresolved issues involving her. I have that with a few women from my past. The DIFFERENCE, is I'm smart enough to know no good can come from talking to them again. Even a innocent conversation. Some things in life you have to leave unresolved.

He probably just wanted to stalk his ex wife out of morbid curiosity. It’s understandable that he would have that urge since she must have been a big part of his life at one point.
