Those in a relationship, who pays mostly in your relationship and why? If you believe your partner should pay, is it because your are broke?

Right now we live off my income but that is literally because she is a student and literally has no efficient amount of income. When we both work, the goal is to share everything equally.

My wife and I have about equal income at this point because I'm retired, receive Social Security and a pension from my job. She also receives Social Security (but less than me) and still works part time as a self employed hair stylist. She rents her own cute, private room at a salon and likes working.

I pay the mortgage, household bills, insurance, etc. She pays for some of our bills plus most of the groceries, gas for the cars, restaurants and other things. Between the two of us, we pay for everything we need and even have plenty of fun.

We don't worry about who pays for what. We're in it as a team.
