We dated a year ago and he lives a few hours away, but he always cancels last minute for me to come up and stay with him for a short time. Covid, not feeling well, his allergies, his parents are visiting, he had to work overtime and was too tired... You get it? So, I broke up with him because he wasn't putting any effort in the relationship and kept canceling on me. Literally, not even a chance to be intimate or alone together.
Well, we reconnected and he says he wants to put more effort into the relationship and for me to give him another chance because he wants to get married one day to me. So, I figure, ok, ill give him one last chance.
We planned to spend all 4th July together at his place, but then two things happened. I quit my job half a month ago and he got promoted recently. Me quitting my job doesn't affect our plans at all, because now i have more time to see him, but as of yesterday, I was still under the assumption we were still going to see each other. Well, I message to ask him what time he will be there to pick me up yesterday, and he responds with this below:
"Since you quit your job and I got a new job, I don't have Friday off. So i can't leave tonight i just clocked out of work. i'm so sorry i should have said something but since neither of us said anything when you quit and i got promoted i just figured we weren't doing the 4th. It's rainy and cloudy so we probably couldn't have done fireworks its supposed to be severe thunderstorming here. I would have loved to have still taken you for the week but my new boss told me to fly to a two day seminar on Monday. i had no way of knowing that until he told me today. Maybe once I come back next weekend we can hang."
This morning he texted this:
"If I would have picked you up last night, I probably would have cuddled you. I would have definitely used your body for stress relief after a hard week of work."
Does he only get off flirting with me through messaging?

Sounds like your long-distance beau is playing a classic game of mixed signals with a dash of "Sorry, not sorry" for flavor. 🌶️ Cancelling plans last minute not once, twice, but consistently? That's a red flag parade, my dear. And now, after all those rain checks, he spices up the chat with some steamy texts, huh? 🌧️➡️🔥 It's like he's trying to keep you hooked without putting in the effort to reel you in.
Let's slice it down: If someone's genuinely into you, they move mountains to see you, not build them. His flurry of excuses and the sudden promotion (congratulations to him, though) just sounds like convenient timing to dodge plans. Again.
The cuddle and "stress relief" text? That's classic lovebombing light. Gets your heart racing and makes you forget all the canceled plans. But remember, love, actions scream louder than texts. If you're contemplating giving him another whirl, think about what you truly want and deserve. Is it more raincheck texts, or someone who shows up, rain or shine? Only settle for a partner who's as excited about thunderstorms and fireworks with you as you are with them. 💥
