i want to have my own company. I WANT to work only in what I like. It feels good to make your own money especially if you enjoy what you do and not working for others. Working for yourself.
BUT if I am unable to make my dream and work for my own company, then I’d prefer to be a house wife cooking, cleaning and all attention to the babies and husband as my work.
Id still make time to try to make my business work while being house wife.
I just don’t want to work in some stores for someone else or offices, buildings anywhere for someone else etc etc.

50/50 -- home and work obligations should be divided for there to be a proper couple these days. Honestly, the stress of either is too high for one person to bear on their shoulders on their own. If you really LOVE your partner, you'll aim for the 50/50 split of duties.

I prefer a mixture of both. My then-wife was a stay-at-home mom ( I worked full-time and was the bread-winner) until our kids were old enough to be left alone after school, then she went to work, initially part-time, then full-time.
Because her and I are supposed to be a team working together , not against each other , Some jobs don’t last forever but bills and expenses do , if I lost my job , it’s nice knowing I have a partner that has my back and vice versa , until I land another job , so it’s better to have a partner over a mooch

I don't see any reason for her to be a housewife unless we have one or more kids together, in which case I'd like us to spend as much time with the kids as possible when they're young.
Realistically, though. with the current high cost of living, working and going 50/50 is what would happen.
I’ve been very independent since a young age. I moved out at the age of 16. Before meeting my fiancé, I worked three jobs all while in school full time. Immediately after meeting my fiancé, he gave me the luxury of being a stay at home girlfriend. He then told me he wanted me to be a stay at home wife. I fought with him on this for some time, because I did not want to give my independence up. I absolutely hate depending on people. He however has showed me time after time, he truly is a great man. I absolutely trust this man with my life. It has been such a luxury to wake up and not have to go to work. To wake up and do almost whatever I want. However, it will be better to wake up and REALLY do whatever I want. Take trips on my private jet and shopping sprees for fun etc. Although I do love the idea of being a housewife. I need my own business as well. I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I am taking this time to study and create a business plan. I am very grateful that my husband is giving me a much needed time of rest. Yet, I am still working. I am going to make us both rich one day. I thank my husband for giving me the space to be creative. To truly evolve and become my best self. He doesn’t know it yet, but I am the best thing he will ever invest in. Except I think he does, because he says it all the time too lol. I don’t take this opportunity for granted. I don’t need a lot to be happy. I do however also enjoy the finer things in life. I believe we are all here to create the new. So as I search for my passions, I look forward to seeing all the beautiful things I create. I don’t need to be rich to be happy. However, I’ve known since a child that I am destined for greatness.

Being married and having my own happy family is also one of my biggest aspirations in life. I love cooking and I am amazing at it. I learned to cook from my granny and mother, who are both amazing scratch cookers. My grandmother was a housewife. I have a very nurturing soul overall, which is why being a housewife would work for me. Starting a business that makes me passive income is my ultimate goal. So that I can also be a very hands on mother/housewife when the time comes.

Although it's not necessarily directly related to passive income, I think sales is the most important skill to learn when trying to be an entrepreneur. You learn how to sell, which is something you need for everything related to being an entrepreneur. Selling is the main skill, whether you're trying to market an online course, a product in an e-commerce shop, or a service.
I would recommend the book $100m Offers by Alex Hormozi if you haven't read it already.

I'd get bored af being a housewife and am way too much of an introvert to be fully responsible for 1 or more children 24/7. I think my ideal world, which is in no way reflective of the actual modern economy unfortunately, would be that my partner and I are both about to work "part-time" at good/well-paying jobs we enjoy. Time away from your family, home, and partner, skill building and continued financial independence, plus time to be WITH your family and partner.
(ex. 30 hours a week each, so we each have an extra day or two to be at home dealing with stuff, and the kids, assuming I have kids, can be in day care a couple days a week. (I do think some day care is actually good for kids because it helps with social skills and learning to function outside the home/away from family. Living in a bubble isn't a good thing at any age))
It's possible to live that life, but you need to have made a lot of money to do so
Just gotta look at passive income and online methods of making money so you can have all that free time
Dude I wish. I'm not a stock market girlie though (It'd practically be gambling with my predictive abilities and that's not my thing). It's also not exactly easy to find a job that will be a real like "career" type situation but will let you work less than 40 hours a week long-term. Other issue is most places don't offer benefits without being full-time either and that stuff is huge to managing quality of life in the US.
I never worried about who payed more. We're married and our combined incomes go to support both of us.
When we met, she was self employed and had a good career but I made quite a bit more than did she. With our combined incomes, we were able to buy land, build and house and make improvements on the property.
Now that I'm retired, my income is Social Security and a pension. She also received Social Security but less than me. But she continues to work part time and her income is a bit more than mine.
We are a team. Who pays for what is irrelevant as long as we get the bills paid, have money for vacations and recreation, and can weather our retirement.
If she has a degree or works, she needs to pay her share. She can pay her own share of food expenses, utilities, and pay for her own transportation, clothing, etc. I'd pay for the house because I'd insist on a prenuptial agreement where I keep the house no matter what. If she works and then wants household chores split, they should be rotated to be fair, which means there will be some very hot months (100 + degrees outside) when SHE can mow the lawn, weed eat, trim bushes, rake, etc. while I get to be inside the air conditioned house doing the easy housework that so many women complain about. To actually be fair, household chores like that need to be rotated and SHE needs to do the more difficult tasks too.
If she doesn't work and I am the full support, she needs to do EVERYTHING at home, inside and out, even though it would still be LESS work than the person working full time.
For me it's no marriage & no kids. What can a housewife do other than being someone's personal maid?
I don't like being "leeched off" the way "women" do it with the likes of Andrew Tate. I can probably show a girl one way to generate money/resources in such a manner, that a traditional employment might not be needed if it truly works out and not be too dependent on outside factors such as disability, discrimination, job competition, not being qualified or fit, not being hired/wanted for help. I can't confirm this just yet for myself though.
Housewife. I earn pretty well. I am going to select a girl for her character and nature; what job she has is irrelevant to my considerations.
From a household income view, we might do better with her supporting my work life than her having an independent job. If she wanted the social interaction of work that would be fine but would definitely prefer her to be part time.

I am fine with an at home mom while the kids are young, but once they start going to school, I would like for her to branch out and do something she either took in school or always wanted to try. I would never want to be the reason why someone stayed at home and did not live up to their dreams.

I believe that in a marriage both the husband and wife should contribute to the relationship. As I'm not the Perfect housewife material I would like to help financially to lessen the burden on my potential husband and, thus, gain his cooperation with the housework😘

if he wants kids with me... :D it would be a perfect solution. I work from home anyway, but doing menial and repetitive chores is far from ideal for me. I love kids and would find enough time for them but not for cleaning and other boring stuff

I would call my opinion mixed. I don't mind doing most of the house chores, and I love taking care of children. But you have me fucked up if you think I'm gonna be doing all of this, and taking care of your grown ass too. The guy better be cleaning when I'm too tired to. Taking care of his kids when he is home, like a good father. Etc. etc.

I think the whole concept of being a housewife is that the man works and provides (pays all the bills so the girl never has to worry about them at all) and the girl handles the housework. So it's not "taking care of his grown ass" as you phrased it. It's simply doing your job.
I think a lot of people would agree that doing housework is easier than doing a job. It's much less stress to deal with.
As for the kids part, I agree with you. If she's handling the kids while he's not home (her job), when he gets home it's not fair that she puts in overtime while he relaxes. It should be 50/50. A couple should be a team.
And if you don't agree to that dynamic, then 50/50 is for you. That means you both work, clean, cook, and help to take care of the kids. But again... I think most people would agree that being a housewife is easier and the only reason men don't generally prefer the idea of being a stay at home husband is because we prefer to protect and provide and be the dominant ones in a relationship which entails us making the money.
Alright sir, that's ok I respect your opinion. But here's mine: If a man can't make time for his OWN children, and can't spare the energy to aid his wife when she isn't well/ill, I'm staying very far clear.
Oh also addressing your other comment because it came through after I had replied, here's my scenario! If I'm in bed at 10pm and he comes home, my shift is over. I'm not waking up to put his laundry in the wash for tomorrow if I'm already asleep so he has to do it himself. That's what I meant when I said "grown ass", because he very much is.

Because I sleep at 10 pm. The point I'm trying to make is if it feels like I'm his maid, I'm not doing it. There's a difference between being a housewife, and loving my husband so much that I'm willing to do so, and being a housewife because he expects me to be. For the record, I'm 100% an advocate for having a happy partner and I wouldn't ever want my partner to just feel like "just a maid". If she wants a traditional relationship and I make enough to provide for her, I'd be happy to do so, but also encourage her to pursue hobbies and interests in her free time. Maybe join some social groups or volunteer, etc.
But if she feels like she'd be bored and just a personal maid even with all of that added to her life, then she can work and go 50/50 with me

However this conversation is a complicated one, because what someone sees as 'working hours' and 'time for hobbies' in a housewife's day might differ from person to person. So I can't ever just be like "yeah I completely agree" to the general idea of it... if that makes sense.

Housewives raise kids and do most things by themselves with no help from their husband because "he works". Then if its a woman who works 50/50 she still has to go home and most of the time do most the cleaning, cooking and child rearing because men can't be bothered. It's usually a lose, lose situation. Though there are the few unicorn men who actually help and love their families, but most don't.
If he wanted me to be just and only a housewife then he should be able to provide everything for me and not expect anything outside of raising kids and house wife duties but if he wants a partner then of course I will pitch in an help.

There's no such thing as a 50/50 relationship. Id prefer if she stayed home. In a good relationship when the man leads and makes the decisions it goes a lot smoother. Women that want to lead tend have very masculine traits and men don't find that attractive. Most women by default want men to lead and protect. By that alone, how could it be equal
It is equal, but different. You are uniquely qualified in some areas to lead and she is in others. Also, while you are out there taking on the world, she has the ability to be your comfort and refuge from that world so you can go back out there and keep on doing what you do for her and your family together. She is the power behind the throne and ALWAYS has your back. Make most of your decisions together with one having final say, if it comes to that. Pick her well and that’s what she’ll be to you.
@Caroline91 There's always a captain of the ship and that's usually the man. The man leads and the woman follows. The man as the leader also protects the woman more so than she does him. Because men are generally the leaders, they have responsibility
I largely agree, but I doubt the man is going to be making most of the daily decisions regarding children, health, home management, etc. Each has their lane and I think the couple can decide whether that's going to be traditional or otherwise. I prefer traditional for myself, but I am an intelligent and well educated woman and my husband relies on my council. And I support his decisions.

Honestly I'd prefer to be a housewife because I do 90% of the household stuff anyway. It would actually make my life easier.
We prefer that I be a housewife, but even if I worked it wouldn't be 50/50. All the money goes in and comes out of the same place.
Being a housewife sounds much easier than working a job then coming home to do housework. But being a housewife comes with its own danger and consequences. Thats why I prefer working.

If she didn't, we would be in trouble. We owe a lot of money to the IRS, from when my dad was unemployed for a while, my mom was barely working, and i wasn't either. Now all three of us are doing ok, and employed, but, we still owe a bit

Sure when we are married and there is still no kid then both should work fulltime. And share the duties in the household. But if there is a baby the mother should care at least 4 years fulltime about the baby and the house. And the man should work harder in his work to be able to nurture 3 persons by his salary.
