We were going to break up anyway but was this overdone?

We already had several issues and it was too much already. The break-up wasn't even on good terms either. During the whole argument and sending each other to hell, I hurled that things like ''Well at least I don't have to fake it anymore, you suck, always did and always will. I was just saying you were great to be polite. So many times I had to fake making love to you. I can find anyone better. I wish I would've cheated with your friend. Sucks to be loyal to your worthless behind''.

Off course it's not completely true and I exaggerated out of anger, to hurt him. I was at the point of detesting him at that moment and said whatever I could come up with, even if it's not true. Was this overdone though?

I mean, if you just said it to insult him then yes. You should apologize for it to the extent that it was only designed to hurt, even if it was partially true.

I always wanted to have a big dramatic breakup with somebody. We would be in the street, it would be pouring rain out and we would be hurling insults back and forth. nothing would be off the table.
