Why do people have/start LTR if they are going to continue talking to others?

LTR are supposed to be committed, exclusive, loving relationships. Typically the couple is living together, etc etc.


So why go through all that trouble if you’re still fishing for other people to be in your life? Makes no sense.


While I’m not against having guy/girl friends (Platonic) in their life together because that’s simply part of a healthy social life, it seems shady to go 1-on-1 or to text one person daily and for lengthy periods of time. Both the guy and gal need to be mindful of what it means to be a couple… and if they’re not willing to be exclusive with each other then why bother with the LTR label at all?

If I’m going to continue talking to others then we are not dating nor in a relationship, we’re just “talking” as well. Talking means “on the verge of becoming more”. If I get into a relationship with someone, I intend for it to be longterm since I date with the hopes of someday marrying. I’m not into sharing partners

Well. It depends on your definition of talking. If you mean being in a committed relationship and chatting with people romantically and sexually. It’s because they’re cheating. This is what cheaters do especially when they think they can get away with it.

They may be using someone for someone or another. As well as stringing then along until they can find someone else
