My mom hates my girlfriend, but my girlfriend makes me want to be a better man. How should I proceed?

I’ve been dating this girl, let’s call her Alyssa, for a few months. My mom hates her for 2 main reasons: (1) she dresses “too revealing” and (2) she thinks she’s “high maintenance”.

Some additional context, my family is Seventh-day Adventist (a conservative Christian faith that worships on Saturdays). Alyssa is a nondenominational Christian. My mom wants me to marry an Adventist woman, but I keep striking out with them. In most cases they think I’m “too desperate” or I don’t fit their high standards. I do not have these kind of issues with non-Adventist women, so that’s why I keep dating outside of my faith.

Even though Alyssa doesn’t always dress modest, she is kind, down-to-earth, treats me with respect, and is attentive. Most Adventist women just mock me, ignore me, and are delusional.

Alyssa does come from a rich family too and our dates have been expensive, but she’s worth it in my eyes. My mom is also upset that we took a trip together. During the trip, Alyssa bought a $1500 purse. My mom thinks that was an unnecessary purchase and that I’ll have to do a lot to keep up with her. I don’t mind, if this is the woman that wants me, I’ll get my money up.

I’m at the point where I’d rather marry someone with expensive taste who actually pays attention to me and respects me, than someone who is the same faith but doesn’t care. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to change my mom’s mind. Should I “keep the faith” and break up with Alyssa or keep my relationship and just keep putting up with the complaints as they come?
