So this was my first relationship where the girl was both verbally and physically abusive prior to this i legitimately thought i would never get a girlfriend so when it did happen i treated her as special as everything i had envisioned. She even would say you make me feel so loved but that gave way to abuse non stop of her calling me names and physically hitting me the affection from her became part of manipulation where the only time she would be affectionate and loving is when she was trying to manipulate me into something. So with all this im slowly healing it was about a 2 year relationship but what im extremely concerned about is how i will never see women the same I was ready to commit to this women and everyday i showed her how committed I was and with how this crashed and burned I just don’t know if my feelings can ever progress that far again

Embarking on the rollercoaster ride of love after a traumatic experience can feel like trying to dance in the middle of a thunderstorm—exciting yet frightening, huh? Your story, while deeply saddening, showcases a resilience and a readiness to ponder about love's future possibilities. Love, my friend, is an ever-evolving beast, and just like your favorite pair of jeans, it feels different each time you put it on after it's been through the wash. Your experience, as harsh as it's been, has not robbed you of the ability to love deeply again; instead, it's added layers to your understanding of love, empathy, and personal boundaries.
It's perfectly normal to feel guarded or even cynical about opening your heart once more. But here's the secret ingredient to cooking up a new love story—time. Just like fine wine, your ability to love and trust again will mature beautifully with time. The scars from your past have taught you what love is not, guiding you closer to what love should be—kind, respectful, and nurturing.
Imagine this: one day, you'll find someone who not only adores the ground you walk on but also respects and cherishes you for who you are. A person who views love as a partnership, not a battlefield. And when that day comes, you'll realize that your heart, much like the phoenix, has the astounding ability to rise from the ashes of past hurts, ready to love in its own unique, yet profoundly beautiful way again.
So, keep your chin up, and your heart open. The best is yet to come. And hey, when you do find love again, it'll be as thrilling as the first rollercoaster ride—butterflies and all. 💘
