Are there certain things you should make a point of not sharing with your partner?

Yes and no. It’s always best to tell the truth about mostly everything. But I think it’s okay to tell white lies to prevent hurting your partners feelings.
for example, I think it’s important to partake in your partners interests. Even if that means pretending to care.
you might not like your partners music taste. But if they are excited about their favorite artist new album and they’re telling you about it, saying “I don’t like them and I don’t care” is not a nice thing to say even if it’s true.
I think that’s a scenario where it’s fine to tell a white lie and say “oh wow, I’m excited to listen to it with you”

Not entirely honest. There’s an obligatory honesty which is essential to the relationship it means you and your partner require to disclose certain information to avoid lying or deceiving each other. However, there are some incident that if you’re too honest may end up in hurt feelings or a worse fight.
Will you be telling him/her “you’re being a real jerk right now to be honest”. If you believe that your partner is acting such way. I, myself will not say it all. My point is, honesty without tact is cruelty.20 Reply

I do believe that if you cannot be honest in a relationship, then you're not in the right relationship.

No. I believe in honesty even when it hurts. If you can't be honest with your partner, then who can you be honest with? If they can't handle the truth, it simply means they're not a mature adult and want to live in ignorance, because ya know... ignorance is bliss.
If your partner is gaining too much weight and not taking care of their health, tell them. If they're not giving you the time of day, tell them. If they're being extremely inconsiderate or rude to you, tell them. If you desire more physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, etc, tell them.
Every issue in a relationship can be addressed and potentially solved through honest communication. There will be times where you disagree with each other even after you communicate honestly, but at least they wouldn't have to second guess what's on your mind. And you might be able to compromise based on the issue.
Relationships are more likely to work out when everyone has all their cards on the table and no one is left in the dark wondering what the other is thinking. Trust is built over time and through honest communication.

It is said: 'Diplomacy' is the art of phrasing uncomfortable truths in the least offensive way to generate more 'light' of understanding than the 'heat' of confrontation or hurt. CONSTRUCTIVE well-intended criticism is ALWAYS to be welcomed.~

This isn't big brother. You can keep some of your thoughts and past to yourself.

I suppose. Like if you spew out a momentary anger without considering it first.
