Should I be honest?

So on May 3rd I'm getting back on dating sites a good break of a month. But here's a road obstatcle that I run into. I live with my elder mother who is 68 and I take care of her since I'm the only 1 not married in my family. I hate it yes Because it's frowed upon. Everytime I go out with someone or meet someone somewhere like at a bar or something and I mention my mom here's the response. "YOU STILL LIVE WITH YOUR MOM AT YOUR AGE YOU SHOULD OF BEEN OUT AT 18." I started to make up lies saying I live with a roomate and that she's moving out soon and my mom is gonna live with me because she is old. Should I get it out of the way on my profiles that I live with my mom still? Because there gonna find out either way. I have 2 neighbors across the street 38 and 43 they both live with their mom and look at them.

Before I answer this. have you given any thought to WHY it is 'frowned upon'? Guys you meet in a bar are generally only looking for one thing, and they see your mum as likely to prevent anything from happening.

You however go on a dating website and be honest. Say you look after your elderly mother, and you are going to attract guys who are likely to be far more sincere, and could also be in the same boat as you!

I think what you are doing for your mum gets overlooked by too many people. I for one think you should be proud of yourself for it, and certainly not hide it!

If you’re being completely honest about your situation, you can just rephrase it so that it’s more acceptable. Instead of saying you live with your mom, explain that she lives with you. It’s not entirely honest but it intones what you want to express; that you are her caretaker. People tend to respond to that more respectfully than the reverse.

I think a respectable guy wouldn't have a problem with it. It shows what kind of person you are a caring one for sure. Maybe the guys that say you should have been out at 18 just want one thing only. In which case do you want them for a relationship or just for a one night stand? Like I said any decent guy will understand 💯 I know if I was a guy and you told me that you live with your elderly mother taking care of her, that immediately tells me what kind of person you are right away! You shouldn't have to lie unless you're looking for the same as those guys.
