I know I’m going to get hate for this, but my answer is a qualified maybe and a big hell NO! (and this is coming from the point of view of a woman with a transgender best friend, since middle school, and more gay friends than a woman should have! And they ALL agree with me on this!)

First, primary education starts around four years old and ends at 13. High school, beginning at age 14 is secondary school. I believe sex education, including LG & B is appropriate in middle school and the “T" should be taught in high school. My comments on this subject are regarding the teaching of sexual materials to children in elementary school only!

IF there is a child, or children in the elementary school class who has/have Gay or Lesbian parents, then I don’t see it as inappropriate whatsoever to discuss that "not all families are the same". We’re talking 4 through 10 year olds. It’s okay to teach them that some families have a mommy and a daddy, some only have a mommy, some only have a daddy. and some have two daddies, and other’s have two mommies, and there’s nothing wrong with that, as long as they are loved, protected and are safe. Then leave it alone, no child should be made to feel “othered” because his/her parents are gay!!!

The ONLY sex education they should be getting at that age is about puberty! Girls need to know about our period, we need to be reassured that it’s normal, and healthy! They need to prepare girls for what is about to happen to our bodies, and that we are not dying, or sick because we started bleeding from our “down there” (and I use that term because when I was in sixth grade, I went to the bathroom and I heard a girl crying… And I mean, sobbing! She was terrified! She had gotten her first period, and from the way she presented, she truly believed that she was going to die, because "I am bleeding down there”!) Her parents had "opted out" of her receiving any (I'm not even gonna call it sex education) it’s education about her body! They had the attitude that "we are the parents, it's our responsibility to teach our daughter about sex and sex education…" Except they DIDN'T! They didn't tell their daughter. WHAT a period was let alone that SHE would eventually get it! That poor girl was terrified! But that is the only sex education that children that age need to learn, and that’s Secondary Sexual Characteristics education! It's the same for boys… They need to learn about the changes that are going to happen to, and within their bodies, and they need to be taught that it's perfectly normal. They need to be taught about spontaneous erections, that they are normal, that they happen to everyone, and that there is NOTHING to be ashamed or embarrassed about! They do not need to know what to do with that erection or where to put it! Additionally, girls below the age of 10 have no business whatsoever learning how to suck a cock from a public school teacher! Frankly, no teacher of any student at any age should be teaching a girl (or a boy) how to suck a cock! That is just abusive! I honestly don't care if they are transgender or not, that’s utterly irrelevant! No child that age should be taught how to suck a cock, whether they are transgender or not!

Children do not need to learn about gay sex, children do not need to learn about lesbian sex, they damn sure don't need to learn about transgenderiesm, and they damn sure do not need to be taught about heterosexual sex either! They are children FFS! Anyone who teaches that kind of stuff to an eight-year-old is sexualizing that child, and therefore abusing that child sexually! I will amend this to say the only thing that children that age need to be taught about sex, is how to avoid predators! They need to know how to recognize the signs of grooming, and they need to be taught to tell. EVERYONE… Mom, dad, their teacher, school administrators, tell everyone if somebody ever touches them between their legs, or even if they just offer to teach the kid a "new game”, and tell the child to keep it a secret from their parents! Children need to be taught that it is never their fault, that it could never be their fault, that they could never be in trouble if that happens to them, and they are touched by an adult, and that if it does or did happen, that they will be perfectly safe and protected if they do tell an adult. If you teach a 10 year old boy how to make a firecracker out of household chemicals… That kid's more than likely gonna try to make a firecracker out of household chemicals! That's just what kids do. If you teach a 10 year old kid that putting his penis in a girls mouth will feel. "AMAZING "or that it's "perfectly normal”, then that is exactly what they're going to do! This is nothing to do with LGBTQ. It has everything to do with sexualizing children before they are emotionally or psychologically developed enough to handle that kind of information responsibly!

Why the hell are we suddenly obsessed with sexualizing children, younger than eight years old? I got into an argument recently about how somebody believed that Florida is banning books! First of all zero books have been banned in Florida! You're free to buy any of the (so-called band) books at any bookstore, most of them are available at Walmart, or your local library, and you can certainly buy them online… It's not illegal for any parent to buy any of those books for their kids! When a book is banned, it's BANNED… PERIOD! It's illegal to buy them, it's illegal to sell them, and it's illegal to possess them! Just like when California “banned" some semi automatic rifles, it became illegal to buy them, sell them, transfer ownership, or possess them! THAT is banning something! Simply asserting that books which describe the graphic rape of an 11-year-old girl by her father on the kitchen floor, or the show graphic instructions for how to give a blowjob, or talk about sex trafficking from a 13-year-old girls point of view, and graphically describes the first time she was raped have absolutely no business being available in elementary schools, without the parents permission or knowledge, or given to four year old, five year-old, six-year-old, seven-year-old, or eight-year-old children! That is the only law that was passed in Florida regarding books! They are not to be available in elementary school libraries, and they are not to be made available to any child in third grade or under. again, that only applies to four, five, six, seven, and eight year-old children! #NotABookBan I also don't believe that four, five, six, seven, or eight-year-olds should be given books by their teachers that describe heterosexual sex either! The L the G the B and the T have absolutely nothing to do with it… it's the sex that small children have no business learning about! Since gay, lesbian, and bisexual are sexual preferences… those facts are irrelevant to asexual prepubescent children!

Homosexuality is documented in ancient Greece, the Roman Empire, and in the Bible, Torah, and Quran… OMG, how on earth could there have been gay people if they were not teaching gay sex in elementary school to eight-year-olds, 2000 years ago? It's patently absurd! Gay and straight people alike have had no problem whatsoever figuring out how to have sex LONG before the insane teachers of TikTok started teaching gay sex to eight year old kids! That doesn't mean I'm opposed to sex education… Quite the opposite, I believe sex education in public schools is an absolute necessity! Just not to children under the age of eight!

Now… Teaching children age appropriate material about sexual abuse, child sex predators, and teaching them how to spot the signs of sexual grooming, teaching them that if anybody who tells them to keep a secret from mommy and daddy… They need to tell mommy and daddy about it immediately! Now THAT is age appropriate sex education to give to four, five, six, seven, and eight-year-old children, and maybe if I would've received THAT education, instead of learning, what transgender people are, and that if I like climbing trees instead of playing with Barbies, I might really be a boy, "and that's OK, we can help you here at school without your parents ever knowing” I might not only have not been sexually abused by my uncle from age 6 to age 11… I could have avoided being raped by him, just three days after my 13th birthday, for 3 1/2 months, until I missed my second period and knew that I was pregnant! Children in elementary (Primary) schools need to be protected FROM sex, not taught how to do it FFS!

Just because the alphabet people use primary colors in their flag doesn't mean it belongs in primary schools.

The flag you are using doesn’t have the inclusive purple, black and brown colors to include the trans community and the brown and black community.
The teacher appears to be a heteronormative white woman. That’s very racist, homophobic and transphobic.
There isn’t one child who appears to be a minority and/or part of the alphabet community.
You used the acronym “lgbtq”. What’s wrong with you? There are least a half dozen more symbols and letters you forgot in that acronym.
You also forgot to include pro Palestine support colors and flags. Don’t forget this is part of the same “struggle”. Support Queers for Palestine (however it recommended to be outside of Palestine when you say that. You might get thrown off a building.).

So yes we need this “education”. So much more important that we waste large sums of taxpayer money, time, resources to put this above giving our children real life skills like math, English and physical health education. Diversity equity and inclusion is what really prepares children for life skills to survive and exceed in the world.

I believe that schools just need to teach that all hate is bad and to not hate people that are different. The LGBTQ+ community should not force their views on anyone and to get a thicker hide if they are misgendered or addressed with their birth name. Also, as far as a child being assigned their sex at birth then to have a parent (s) decide that the child is to identify as the opposite and force injections on them to halt puberty is child abuse. There is a reason the law sets 16, 18, and 21 as being of legal age is because those under those ages are unable to make adult decisions. Forcing sex reassignment on ANYONE not old enough to appreciate the repercussions should be jailed.

I personally don’t have any predigest towards a persons choice in sexual orientation. Just give that child the right to decide for themselves and don’t force everyone else to use pronouns. Just respect those you share classrooms and employment areas with for using your birth name. Once out on the streets, that’s fine.

I'm a part of the lgbt group and I think it just depends on what exactly is being taught. If it's just part of a class discussion that came up that little Johnny has two dad's, then you explain that having 2 dads or 2 moms is ok just like having a mom and a dad or one or the other. If someone starts presenting as another gender, we can explain that not everyone feels right with who they are born as and it's polite to acknowledge the change and not tease them.

Beyond that, I don't think we should need to be going into more detail than what I really covered. Just like we shouldn't be getting into the details of what hetero people do in relationships or any sort of religious indoctrination. We acknowledge that there are differences and then let the parents handle the education on those topics.

Yes. To the extent that kids are taught about family dynamics. I. e. some kids have mum and dad, some just have dad, some just have mum, others have Grandma and/or grandpa, aunt and/or uncle etc. some also have two mums or two dads. Those kids in the class shouldn't be left out of family dynamics discussions.

And again when having sex education in year 6 (I believe it was) having the discussion about different types of romantic relationships is important as this is around the time crushes start to develop, it's a confusing time in general and even more confusing when you're crushing on a boy as a boy or a girl as a girl and your friends are not experiencing the same thing.

I don't think there needs to be a lesson specifically on LGBTQ, I think it just needs to be integrated into discussions that are already being had.

How exactly does it benefit a child to start learning human sexuality in primary school? At that age most kids are not cognizant of their reproductive system and why should the school system awaken it. In the long run, it creates more confusion for them by adding a layer of things to be insecure and worry about at a time when they should be reading and writing. Also I do not want the same group struggling to teach my child to read or do math to be confusing them about sex too.

At most it should be a "chapter" in the sex education class/seminar they give to kids in Jr High School.

Yes. Age appropriate health / human sexuality education is very important and done by a professional, with a scientifically backed curriculum in a supportive community is ESSENTIAL education. Get it out in the open and stop the puritanical taboo religious bullshit. If a child is old enough to ask or wonder, then they are old enough for an age appropriate and HONEST answer.

Planned Parenthood comes into schools to perform this service by the way. They just don't do abortions. In fact that's less than 4% of their valuable work.

I think maybe middle school & high school is more appropriate for it. As that's when kids start questioning their sexuality and stuff. And will learn about sex, STDs, STIs, etc. in sex ed in health class. But elementary kids don't need to learn about that stuff. I’m on the fence on this subject, and being trans I felt I needed to give my opinion on this.

I don’t personally believe that it should be taught as a full time individual subject. But maybe as a topic is classes such as what my old school used to call “life skills” it’s where we studied sex education. Studying this as a brief 5/6 week topic would certainly help irradiate some of the ignorance that surrounds the subject matter.

Also when pupils hit GCSE age (years 10 & 11) should they wish to study it as a full time subject give them the choice to study LGBTQIA+ and not force it upon them.
