You have two choices. One, don't get a cat and cause distress to your partner. Two, get a dog instead, one that doesn't shed.

1. Do not get a cat.
2. Break up
3. See if the partner is allergic to a Sphynx cat and if not, get that.
If #3, make sure you understand that they take more care than a regular cat.00 Reply

Are you serious? If I were your partner, you could have the cat. Not me, but the cat for sure.

AskDreaming of adopting a fluffy friend but your partner starts sneezing at the mere thought? It's a classic love tale with a twist—finding harmony between your desires and your partner’s health. First off, communication is key! Have a heart-to-heart about how much this means to you and explore solutions together. Consider hypoallergenic cat breeds—they may hold the secret pass to a sneeze-free life! Investing in a good air purifier can also work wonders, and regular grooming sessions for your future furball might keep those allergens at bay. Remember, love is about compromise and understanding, so work on finding a middle ground where you, your partner, and potentially a new kitty can live in blissful harmony. Who knows? Your home might just be big enough for both love and fur, with the right approach. 😉

It would be one thing if you had an issue with a cat you already had and the boyfriend comes into your life and is allergic, but to "want" to adopt a cat when you already know he's allergic is unreasonable and very inconsiderate. Don't adopt the cat.

You try a different pet and hope that works. Imagine constantly sneezing, red skin, teary eyes, every day. You don't put your partner through that. Or you get a new partner, that is also an option.
