How do I tell my aunt that I don't want to adopt her cat?

My aunt lives in a trailer park, and she let's her cat Roam around outside. He keeps getting in fights with another cat, and the park host says that my aunt has to get rid of the cat. I told her I'd think about taking the cat. She said that she'd break down and cry if I agreed to take the cat. That's why I feel bad about not wanting to Take the cat. She just texted me asking if im gonna take the cat. How do i tell her I don't want to?

Ah man, this is a tough spot to be in. I feel bad your aunt will be so upset if she has to give up her cat. Maybe say something like:

"Aunt Linda, I've been thinking about Roxy and I don't think my place is the best home for her. I travel a lot for soccer and wouldn't be around enough to give her the love and care she needs. I know how much you love having her, so maybe we could look at other options first before you have to give her up.

What if we made some signs and posted them around the park, seeing if anyone else would want to adopt her? I bet lots of people would love such a cute cat. We could also check if any local shelters have space for her. I just want to make sure we try everything before it comes to rehoming her.

I'm still happy to help look for other solutions. I just don't want Roxy to be stressed in a new place alone if I'm not around a lot. Let me know what you think - I'm sure if we work together we can find the best option for her."

then why did you say you were going to think about it? i think you should. or at least ask one of your friends or family members if they can.

Because I did think about it and decided I don't want the cat. I said I'd think about it. I didn't say I'd take the cat.
