How come highschool male popular kids, college frat boys, and male student athletes tend to have devoted loving faithful good wives while nerds are just preyed on by gold-diggers and often die alone?

This is a good question, that is best for people from different experiences in life

I can't see into the mind of a woman but i can tell it like i see it. Usually some women tend to want to go after the ones they deemed the most attractive to them at that time. Most not always all but most highschool male popular kids, college frat boys, male student athlete, have a few things in common that most women usually love for their man to have.
•usually seen as winners in society
•Social,
•successful,
•attractive body usually tall, fit or in shape, attractive face
•More likely to ask a woman on a date because of having confidence in themselves
•More likely to develop a confident mindset past school years
But over all most women see a better future with a guy that seems to look more successful which makes them more desirable

As compared to nerds some not all usually if they have been made fun of or been lonely throughout their school years
•usually seen as losers in society
•not as social
•can still be successful just not in the same jobs or ways
•not always attractive bodies, can be tall if their genetics let them be lucky, usually thin or over weight not usually fit, sometimes attractive face
•not as likely to ask a woman on a date because he's shy from lack of confidence throughout school years or has tried and been rejected badly time after time.
•resentment and bitterness toward themselves because of negative self talk, comparing himself to others that are "better" just because they have a different life than him

Gold diggers love guys that are down in the dumps and usually nerds are most likely to become that guy. Because they meet the criteria. They have money they are willing to spend for such things, they are lonely and yearning to feel loved by a woman they think is really loving them for them which can make them fall more susceptible for tricks. Because the gold digger only sees it for more money in her pocket and threaten to end the relationship if she isn't getting paid by him or just getting what she wants. The nerd will have to keep searching for a much longer time for a true companion because a person who puts good morals over desires is sometimes hard to find. Another note to add to this nerd will be more likely to give up on finding love. But doesn't mean it's always like this. There are women that like nerds too though, but usually only if they have successful jobs, treat the woman right, and have a attractive body, or form a strong connection with the woman.

I don't know. It's not always like that, but that kind of thing DOES happen often enough to be an issue.

That’s not true at all. It just seems that way because of what is called “confirmation bias”. It means that we only see the facts that support our own conclusion. It’s something that is a survival instinct in all humans and is difficult to overcome even when we know we do it. It’s why we always look to others without biases for guidance.
The most common group of people that have conformation bias are flat earthers. No matter how much evidence you show them they will disregard whatever evidence doesn’t align with their conclusion that the earth is flat.
