Why does my boyfriend act out when he doesn't get my attention?

My boyfriend is getting petty. He asked permission to go out when I was not in the mood and having problems and he said he purposedly sent me a message saying he was drunk when he was just tipsy because I replied very late to his messaging saying i love you.

He acts like a child and will try to get my attention when I just told him I'm facing family problems. So, instead of me facing my family problems, he also acts out because I did not reply to him. Why does he try to compete with my attention and will purposedly let me get mad if he feels my attention is not on him?
