What does this saying even mean?

Why do you think of the saying below:

"If the girls go with and love the bad boys, the losers in the end are not the bad boys or the good boys but the girls themselves."

What does this saying mean? I tried asking some individuals why they believe this saying but they're only answer to me is that in the end, good males are not the same people they once were or in the end, they are mentally focused somewhere else.

So what does this saying mean?

The quote seems to be saying that "women who date bad men" end up being the losers, not the men.

The "bad boys" get what they want and break a heart.
The "good boys" don't get their heart broken because they didn't date.
The "girls" lose because they got their heart broken by a maladjusted man.

But, forgetting all of that for a second, I really don't like the quote at a fundamental level. Men, women, and anyone in between have the capacity to be shitty people. Anyone can be a loser if they date a shitty person, regardless of gender.

I stress to everyone just to be the best version of themselves they can be, to follow their morals and not harm others when they can help it. Don't hop into relationships without clearly communicating what you want. "I want a short term f*** buddy" would be clear communication from the "bad boy," and their partner would be free to disengage before getting emotionally invested. However, "bad" people don't often say that because it makes them appear superficial or shallow.

Getting into a relationship can be messy, and people are really good at masking their true nature. After awhile you get better at reading people, and judging them not only for what they say but the actions they take as well. "Bad boys and girls" are often smooth talkers because they have a lot of experience scoring dates, because they're on a lot of dates to begin with (their relationships didn't last, for instance). Naïve people can fall for this trap, eventually end up having sex, and then are left in a whirlwind wondering how everything went so wrong so fast.

Just guard your heart and figure out the right person to give it to would be my advice, but that's easier said than done. The world is not perfect.

It means focus on yourself... not women. Giving a woman too much attention and focus makes her feel icky. The "bad boys" understand this.
