Should abusive men be prevented from having contact with women?

I recently had a female friend get badly abused by a male intimate partner, should this be a law or would it be impractical?

Well no shit. Of course  truly  abusive men should be called out and legally dealt with if they cross the line. They unfortunately exist and still exist. But unfortunately there is also a high percentage of both shitty abusive women (who usually get a ton more leeway) and  even worse women who lie about being abused.  #metoo resoundingly proved that. Just look at what happened with Johnny Deppe and Amber Herd.  So it’s about getting the hard truth on the matter before passing judgment. But most people are more likely to give the woman the benefit of the doubt vs the man on this one.

No. As you cannot decide for another what is an "abusive" relationship.

I've had friends who could be considered in such, but no one can intervene until one or both of them decide to bring in outside help.

For example one couple actively abuse one another verbally and physically when drunk. She will tear into him leaving wounds, as easily as he will give her a "free lip filler" so to speak. When sober, both are happy go lucky, and great to be around. But mean drunks can be a handful if not handled carefully.

No. Thing is a lot of women will choose an abusive man. Also there are women who will deliberately instigate abuse, we women aren't the angel's men think we are. We can be quite mean. Some of us if we have a mind too can break a man mentally to the point he snaps and lashes out.

Depends what you mean by "abuse".
If you mean beating, then yeah.
If you mean disagreeing with, refusing to do her will, or voting for Trump, then nah.
I have had a lot of girlfriends ever since high school call everything from insults to disagreements "abuse".

People have definitely tried to put laws like that in place, but I don't know how practical they are though. A good example; any time police get called out to a house for a DV incident, they will automatically detain the man, even if the woman is the one getting violent.

One of the biggest issues is that women in these situations often don't want to get their abuser in trouble because they still love him, or they're worried about retaliation. The women often end up protecting the abuser.

It's extremely difficult to press charges when your victim/witness refuses to cooperate. It doesn't matter what we know; it's about what we can prove.

I don't think that could be possible to implement. And also such a grey area with questions over what exactly counts as abuse. The truth of abuse. Types and levels of abuse. I mean, bosses at work can be abusive under most definitions! It's a bad bad thing. I was in an abusive relationship. But I don't know the answer?

What are we talking about? Forcible rape? That is head on a pike area to me. Pushing her after she slapped him? Yelled at her for emptying the bank account and leaving no money for food or gasoline? There should obviously be varying penalties depending upon the offense.

Without video and audio evidence, I wouldn't believe women when they claim someone abused them because women lie and falsely accuse men so frequently and other women are often supportive of them with no evidence.

Laws already exist for that. It’s called a restraining order. And if he’s already committed battery/ assault, then she can tell the courts she wants no further contact. If he violates that, it’s a felony aggravated stalking.
